I would seriously report that Manager to the Gamestop site and at the same time let corporate know how the assistant took care of you and got chewed out for doing the right thing. Employees are not supposed to stash merchandise for their own purchase let alone letting customers know they are doing something like that.mas wrote:The assistant asked me if I needed help and I said "No the clerk on the phone was calling an employee to see if he still wants the Zelda controller" and the assistant said "just give it to the customer. He's here now and wants to pay for it.
The store manager seemed pissed off when I bought it. I could hear the store manager yelling at the assistant that it was saved for the employee that works there.
Power-Up cards and Pre-Orders are basically the metric for how "good" a Gamestop is. That's pretty much all corporate looks at in terms of employee performance. It also determines their bonuses/raises. Every transaction they complete without a pre-order and or power-up basically counts against them.oxymoron wrote:He loves to push the power-up card and trade in offers down peoples throats.
You think he is scamming you over grabbing a bargain bin game?oxymoron wrote:Somehow GameStop seems to screw up all the time. I went in today to my local one today to check out the 50% bin and thought i'd pick of Wolfenstein while I was there. Just my luck, the store only had one copy that was disk only. So I asked the guy what stores near here had them in stock. So the guy tells me the closest store is 9 miles away and I left disappointed. Later I go home and check for myself and guess what? He was lying out his ass.The other store in town and even the 3rd nearest to me both had it in stock! He just wanted to buy the copy he had.
I've had problems with this manager before so it's not really a big surprise. He loves to push the power-up card and trade in offers down peoples throats. Hell, one time he hassled me to the point where I almost walked out the store but that story is for another time.
I've really changed my view on GS lately. I don't think it's right to label them as a menace to the retail game industry nor call them saints. Some stores have good people and some stores don't. It's really based on the employees and their attitude.
