Uhhg. Not enough money... how long should I wait to buy this? I have a bunch of 360 stuff I want to pick up, and at some point, I'd pick up a PS3 (BTW, are there any 360/Gamecube shaped 3rd party controllers for PS3?)

I disliked the first Rush, lol. I liked Advance a lot more (still need to play the others).

The two screens thing and all the rails in Rush killed it for me I think.
I'm guessing you only played Sonic Advance 1? (which in my book is just as good as the Mega Drive Sonic games, and what I'd call the TRUE Sonic the Hedgehog 4). Cause SA2 had a lot of boring rails and stupid level design like Sonic Rush, and the less we say about SA3 the better
Ditto. I'll still probably check out the other SA games, but yeah... guess that's nice to know.

The first one was pretty damn good though, for sure.

Dude, the first one wasn't just good it was AMAZING. The only thing that makes it only slightly not as perfect as the Mega Drive games is the art direction. Both the music (when they aren't just reusing old tracks) and the art is modern Sonic. Also I have no fucking idea why they just speed up the music when you get the shoes and they didn't remix it with a faster tempo like the Mega Drive games.

Mind you those are very stupid nit picks. The game is probably the 4th or 5th best Sonic game of all time (I'd rank it higher than Sonic the Hedgehog in terms of quality, though Sonic 1 does win me over with its nostalgia factor).

I have no idea why gaming sites don't mention it more often when it comes to Sonic games. Then again it seems game reviewers in general haven't grown up with Nintendo handhelds, judging by how many amazing Gameboy (classic, color and advance) they forget to mention in their best games lists.

I liked Sonic Advance 1, 2 and Rush. Haven't played 3 or Rush Adventure yet. It has been a while but I don't remember if 1 is significantly better than 2. Possibly so (it was one the first GBA game I played so it has really been a while, and I only played SA2 a bit later).

I played Rush more recently (comparing) and I do remember I thought the Boost bar was quite a cool innovation. You don't really need to bother with tricks (on rails and such) to go through it unless you are doing a score run.

I finally started playing this game on the PC. I've never been much of a Sonic fan, but GOOD GOD MAN! This game is platformer heaven! Sonic Generations is the epitome of good level design for both 2.5D and 3D platforming. It's a joy to play and the speed of it all is an absolute rush.

Ended up ordering from CyberPower PC under the recommendation from friends. Ended up getting:

GigaByte AMD 970 motherboard
800 Watt XtremeGear PSU
AMD FX-4100 Quad @ 3.6ghz
Asetek 510 liquid cooling w/ 120mm fan.
8gb of DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6850 1gb
1tb 7200rpm drive
ATX mainboard with 7.1 sound and USB 3

all wrapped up in a nice, understated Apevia X-Dreamer 3
