it's more like an ipad than a laptop. laptop has a keyboard attached to it. while this controller will have arcade sticks, wii motes, wii gun, etc as an attachement. i say wait until we see what this controller can really do in person then u guys can say your opinion on it without relating the jaguar controller, etc. like other wii games, there is a lot of ways to play nintendo released games. but one thing is for sure about this controller, it's made for gaming in any platform.brunoafh wrote:You didn't miss much. Nintendo announced their latest gimmick hardware. It has a gigantic controller that's basically a laptop. The regular slew of usual Nintendo suspects are getting new games. That about covers it.Xeogred wrote:The board exploded while I was out doing hard labor today, moved like 250 some 2x4's among other things. Feeling a little lazy to look around and catch up with the dozens of pages I've missed just today.

This. Thanks for summing it up perfectly for me, Flake.Flake wrote:I think Yoshi was talking about games that would ordinarily take up the entire TV. Re: Nintendo: Project Cafe - Wii U
give it a year or two and M$ and $ony will copy Big Ns controller.
You know it will happen.
Im excited and cant wait to try it. Tho I dont like the idea of buying a new Wii when I have one. It would be cool if you send in your Wii and get it updated/upgraded.

Re: Nintendo: Project Cafe - Wii U
I feel totally letdown. Maybe Nintendo just isn't for me anymore
Re: Nintendo: Project Cafe - Wii U
I can't see the controller costing that much. As has already been established on this board, it is a thin client therefore there is just a video driver and that's it. No GPU, no CPU, no logic whatsoever. Therefore the bigger cost is the screen and the digitizer, the other components are negligible (CMOS sensors, speakers, gyros and bog standard pots/switches) considering you can get Android tablets with 7inch screens for about £60 and that has to run a self contained operating system. These are going to cost about £50. I don't mind that since 360 controllers are about £30 on their own (£45 if you count the new one) and PS3 controllers are £40. It's not like they're going to price themselves out of the market?
My prediction is £250 for the console and £50 for additional controllers. If they hit that price point it's game over for Sony and Microsoft. Especially if they say their current road maps mean there won't be another system from them for another 3-5 years.
Nintendo have once again, made the entire industry look like utter morons. They will leave everybody else in their dust.

Still, there was the occasional good game on the wii here and there...
No More Heroes, Dead Space Extraction, Sin and Punishment, Donkey Kong Country 4...
But yeah, it'll never be as good again as it was during the SNES era...
