What car do you drive?

Since the already car is modified, maybe run a hood scoop on top for more direct air? The scoop can contain the filter if the tube is shortened and relocated upwards. I have a scoop right above my filter which has no tube, just a top inlet filter right above the carb. Outside fresh air even at a stoplight with garfield removed of course.
I'm not marring the hood of a rare car in order to recover the two horsepower I will lose when the engine is hot. This car isn't built for horsepower. I really don't care if it fluctuates a little. It sounds cool and goes through autox courses like a champ. If I were worried about it I would just put the stock airbox with the snorkel back on.

Not all Miatas are, but the 1999 10th Anniversary is. 7500 made. 3000 of which came to the USA.

Torsen Limited Slip, Bilstein shocks, 6 speed gear-box (the first in the Miata at the time), Nardi Italian leather wheel, and shift knob. Black leather seats with blue alecantra inserts and an exclusive color. As well as polished aluminum wheels which all ended up corroding and are pretty much impossible to find. :P

There are certainly rarer cars, but I like mine.

Even if it weren't rare. A hood scoop would be tacky and I wouldn't do it anyway. Maybe on a beater track car.

ok i gotcha. just asking. i was looking at a 99 mx-5 last year. nice condition, rode great, mileage a bit high. lot was just asking way to much. in fact every one i came across had high mileage and was priced way over kbb and i didn't want any car payment so went another route. btw that miata is still sitting on that lot.lmao

Miatas are seriously inflated in some areas while pennies in others. A friend of mine got a '92 with 105k for only $2500. Had a brand new top too and drives very well.

I probably paid a good thousand over what I really should have for mine but I'm very happy with it all the same.

I really should get some pictures of it with my purdy new hard top.

Yeah. That's a $4,000 car. Not $9,000.

I paid $7,500 for mine with 110k. It's about a thousand over what it really should have been. But the guy had replaced all the rubber hoses, timing belt, and had done all the other 120k maintenance items. Doesn't leak a drop of anything and runs just as well as the 50k mile example I rode in just a few days ago. The exterior paint is really very good for a Colorado daily driver, though it does have quite the number of rock chips on the front bumper and the small dent on the rear driver fender. Interior is pretty much perfect.

Edit: A recent pic:

I may do something like that eventually. But I'm not so sure it's worth my time. Mazda did a pretty damn good job getting all they could out of the engine. Unless you go into forced induction there's only about 8 total HP you can squeeze out of the stock motor with intake, headers, exhaust, etc.
Wrong.

Quite a bit more than 8 total horsepower :)

Meth :)

I was under the impression that was for turbo'd/supercharged engines though?

Nope. Snow performance has proven there are gains on an NA application
