We already did OutRun. I think Virtua Tennis would be good as it's sports, but very arcade-ish.CFFJR wrote: April:
Racing would be my choice, either Wipeout or F-zero. Or Outrun. If we go sports though, I'm ok with any of the Tennis titles mentioned. That sounds fun.

I like these.dsheinem wrote: Golden Axe Warrior

I think this is a great idea. IMO, Out of this World is overrated. Pretty game, but the only way to play it is to die a thousand times and learn what not to do. Sparkster, never heard of it. I see that Ueda made it, so it's probably a great game, but is it historically important? Keen on the other hand is a true classic. Excellent games, amazing technical achievement for the time, and definitely an important part of the history of iD.BoringSupreez wrote:I want to do a Commander Keen game sometime, preferably episode 4 or 5. Those games are awesome PC 2D platformers, and they are easily (and perfectly) emulated via DosBox.
Given the nature of the medium on which this discussion takes place, I don't think anyone has a problem with reading lots of dialog. I'd prefer Baldur's Gate, because it will spark more discussion. DQ is a very linear game, you only get one character in your party, and most of it is mindless grinding. Baldur's Gate on the other hand lets you customize your party, and use a lot more strategy in combat.Xeogred wrote:Baldur's Gate will probably have you reading dialogue for hours at a time.
JRPG's will probably have you fighting random battles for hours at a time.

That wasn't meant to be taken too seriously but at the same time, yeah I was kind of serious. Stuff like Planescape that's an interactive novel is just not my kind of thing. And we're not limiting the JRPG down to DQ last I remember, I still think something like Grandia would be cool. All that said I do hear the Baldur's Gate games have a good balance with gameplay and dialogue, I'm just still a little weary about it myself. Like I thought the first two Fallout's were pretty good, but definitely didn't love them because the combat was pretty boring and simplistic, and I'm just not the type of player that wants to talk my way out of everything all the time... I just need some good medium between the two. That's me though.Hatta wrote:Given the nature of the medium on which this discussion takes place, I don't think anyone has a problem with reading lots of dialog. We've still got a few days before any decisions need to be made - let's keep the discussion open.TEKTORO wrote:I sparked a list and now cast a vote!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

But not OutRun 2 or 2006, which play much different to the original.noiseredux wrote:We already did OutRun. I think Virtua Tennis would be good as it's sports, but very arcade-ish.CFFJR wrote: April:

Older. Not wiser.
Re: Together Retro 2012 Nominations & Discussion Thread
I'd rather do racing next year since we did sports this year...
