I just don't see it at all. I've got plenty of systems sitting next to it too.

It's the one system I've always owned though, so I guess it's too burned into my mind. I've never not had an SNES.

I've never not had a PS1 in the house myself... now I'm wondering what it looks like to a person who's never had one.

Having both consoles growing up I found that certain games are better on one console over the other (Mortal Kombat) and then you get into each having great exclusives (Super Metroid / Sonic). I think this comes down to a matter of preference on your favorite gaming genre and choosing a console based on that. It in no way makes the other console worthless it just makes it less appealing to your taste.

I will say that I despise the genesis controller over the SNES. That's really my only dislike of the genesis.

Now since its 2012 I would say you can dish out the cash for both consoles if you already dont own them and play the suggested games recommended by other post and give a definitive reply after you have played the SNES and the many great games for it. Just knowing they exist is not enough. Give it a second chance :D

I am the guy who goes out and buys the micro-controller since I hate the original controllers most of the time (Gamecube, Xbox). The Genesis controller is just to bulky where the SNES controller was one thickness and in my hands it just had a feel I cant explain.

I'm not a fan of the original Genesis controller either. But it's not because of the size or shape, it's the buttons. They feel too loose and...clicky? It's been a while since I've held/used a 6 button controller so I can't remember if it had that problem too or not.
