Fudge. I didn't even realize Wonder Boy in Monster Land came out on the TG-16.

before I announce you the first ever (yes their will be a sequal soon) winner of Name that game, how did you do it? (I have to ask)

and yes you have 20 points total. It's up to you to keep going and challenge your prize to anyone here or clearly claim your prize.

and I remember you want your prize to be a surprise, correct? so I won't post it.

Well, obviously I'm huge nerd full of useless information. I'm a very visual person so if I've seen it before enough or played it, things tend to stick in my head. I'm also pretty analytical, so I took clues from the images. For instance, older systems with tiled games usually mean an 8 bit console. Fat double wide pixels means 8 bit computer. Generally 4 color sprite also hints at 8 bit. TG16/PC Engine is going to be a decently high color game with a roughly square aspect ratio for the screenshot as opposed to Genesis/SNES games.

I really did know many of them on sight, or at least enough to go check what version/system they were, or know the right things to look for when making an educated guess. I work from home and sometimes I'm waiting on DBs or patches to run, so I had the advantage of turning around and watching the thread on another PC too.

I did figure out where the images were coming from (making them familiar to me as well) shortly after I started answering too. You shouldn't take all the images from the same place next time. :P If you want to disqualify me for that, no biggie. It was fun even if my work did suffer a little bit these last two days. :)
