Well I don't buy them myself personally.
But that's since I usually don't care for movies unless they're free on TV.
You can only watch something so many times, you know?
Why do you buy dvds?

If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
Re: Why do you buy dvds?
I never buy DVDs, £15+ for 1.5 - 2 hours of entertainment? Not worth it at all.

Why do you buy games?
Re: Why do you buy dvds?
I have 3 local channels, 2 come in pretty good and the other every now and then. So I also dont have TV, wish I did though I miss cartoon network and nickelodeon. I buy dvds if they are cheap or if they are films i like. Most of the dvds I have I have seen a hundred times. I just have the get 2 games or movies out at a time at blockbuster and I live off that. I download seasons that I want to watch or buy them if i really really love them like Home Movies.General Chaos wrote:I buy a few TV series on DVD (mostly comedies like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development), primarily b/c I don't have TV so it's my way of watching the very, very few shows that are actually any good. Other than that I don't buy DVDs. On a related note, anyone else here not "have" TV? People always look at my like I'm an alien when they ask "did you see _____ on TV?" and I respond that "No, I don't have TV."
I watch a movie once and that's usually it. If it's good enough to justify my seeing it, I'll usually do it in the theater and then just be satisfied with having seen it that one time.
Of course I wasn't always this way. As a teen I would go to the same movie several times. I guess I just don't have the patience nor the time. Plus I prefer to consume my fiction in the form of novels now.

This thread is pointless. I say that because I guarantee that you (the original poster) purchase something at some set price that I would find ridiculous and pointless.
I'm a video collector of all sorts. I've bought things that were ridiculous overpriced, ridiculously cheap, and sometimes, I even buy stuff I don't like/need because I like the idea of supporting a certain person/cause/idea/etc. It's like asking why you buy and eat something, because I personally think it tastes bad. You're whole argument behind this is very immature.

You can believe whatever you want,
i was wondering if other people feel like me, that its not worth it to pay $20-30 for one or two views of a certain movie or show.
I had an idea that many people buy a movie when they want to watch it, seems that most rent or download.
Sure, I would buy to support someone who I like his work. But for 90% of the movies or shows out there, I couldn't care less if they stopped the production of it.
Last movie I saw was The Mummy in the theater, and I couldn't care less if there will be no sequel.
On the other hand, I'd buy movies like charlie and the chocolate factory(original) or oliver twist, these are so high in quality and can be viewed many times over and over again.
I'd pay $3 for most of the movies and shows to watch them once, and I think its more than enough. Think of it this way. There is 6 billion people out there, I'd guess there are 50 million that watch movies. If he get $3 out of everyone, I think he got his support. Some movies get a lot like spiderman 3.
