There are certainly anime that don't have problems with pacing as well.
And in the 80s / 90s (?) there were some very interesting Europe / Japan collaborations. Cities of Gold is excellent IMO (I've watched it recently so I know it's not just nostalgia).
But there's no need to get up in arms about this anyway, it's no secret people have differing tastes in shows, just like in videogames.
I personally never liked a specific style of Nickelodeon (with perhaps Ren & Stimpy being the obvious example - but there's several others that follow), but it's considered (and probably rightly so) to be an american classic.
I typically like Disney stuff (for example, Gargoyles was amazing, Kim Possible is nice and relatively recent) which is made in the U.S. (I believe. And I like the style used in Samurai Jack / Powerpuff girls (I'm waiting for the jokes).
Back on topic, I like Dragonball and DBZ. I actually prefer DBZ (I guess I'm in the majority here), although it has some severe flaws somehow the rest of it makes up for them (and I like all the "Sagas" in Z, I sort of see why some people think it went downhill after Freezer but don't totally agree). But they are quite distinct styles even though Z is the "sequel". GT goes too over the top I think, but it's sort of the natural extension of DBZ (which means, they probably should have stopped
