I didn't sell Dracula X. I traded it, with my entire Turbo-CD rig, for a large Saturn collection. I regret losing the Turbo, but I never regret acquiring the Saturn. I didn't have the resources to own both at the time.

I actually wrote a FAQ loaded with speculation for Mr. P's Castlevania site. Check out the full FAQ here: http://www.vgmuseum.com/mrp/cv-sotn/doc ... e-port.htm

Here's the relevant bit from the FAQ I wrote. I've italicized some changes I've made on the fly that need to be committed back to the original.

"The graphics seem a little more blocky in areas and a little less distinct on the Saturn as opposed to the PSX. The best example of this is Alucard's cape. Watch as it flows. One minute the vertical outline is thin, the next it's thicker, something that doesn't occur in the PSX version. Also watch the metal lattices in the background of some of the early areas and you'll notice some of the vertical lines appear fatter than others. Have you ever noticed on a computer when you stretch a picture just a little bit? Some of the picture stays the same and some bits get a little chunky. Well, the PSX's standard resolution for most games is 320 x 240, which is likely the resolution SOTN was created to use. The Saturn's closest matching resolution is 352 x 240. Since there are no black bars on the left and right side this means that the graphics are stretched along the horizontal. The 3D engine was ported without proper modification to maintain proper object and image sizes and as such, all the graphics are stretched to match the increased resolution and are therefore slightly distorted."

And while the Saturn version of SOTN wasn't as graphically good as the PS version, the only area I thought it wasn't equal were those giant-floating-glowing skulls and the Genesis-like transparancies~ But hey, there was Maria.
