I do! I do!

So i was given my Model 2 Saturn as a b-day gift about 2 years ago (i've got one buddy in particular who i share my love for games and classic games with... he's the one who scored the Saturn for me), and right off the bat i ordered up one of racketboy's modchips as well as an Action Replay 4in1. once my chip arrived, i hauled my Saturn into work (i've got full access to a professional ESD lab and all the tools), installed the chip and brought it home.

The first game i booted up? Disc 1 of the Japanese Street Fighter Collection.

sooooo much fun.

Just modded it the other night, in fact.

We gothed out a room, painting the whole thing black and mounted a Sanyo PLV-Z2 projector on the ceiling. 110 inches wide (horizontal, not diagnol) and the games come to life for parties. While we've had the projector for a couple years, I just recently got my Dreamcast hooked up to it, which inspired me to bring in the Saturn for some Bomberman bliss.

I bought a Saturn solely for Bomberman. This was towards the close of its life, when rumours about Katana were circulating. I bought quite a few inexpensive games, and several imports. Many games were disappointing, but some were excellent (Panzer Dragoon I and II and Gridrunner come to mind). I bought a copy of Dragoon Saga and Burning Rangers, loved em, but let the Saturn languish unless it was used for its ultimate purpose (Bomberman).

But then, I got curious, and wanted try out a few games -- Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heros, Silhouette Mirage and Noon. So, the modchip was a happy thing since those games are not readily available via other means. It's breathed new life into the Saturn for me. Bomberman will still be its sweet spot for me, but I'm a total retro gaming whore, and the Saturn has surpised me with a few new(old) tricks.

Moreover, I seem to stumbled on a happy place for Saturn and retro discussion. This is a nice leetul website.

I have an unmodded saturn with a 4-in-1 cart. Always used the swap trick, and I've never had an issue. I might get a modchip at some point once I start playing Saturn again (i'm in between houses and much of my console stuff is in storage).

One day, I walked into an import shop here in NYC and saw X-Men vs. Street Fighter running on a TV behind the counter. What got my attention was that the animation looked perfect but what *really* flipped my lid was when I saw a new character tag in with no load time or stutterring or anything. I was like, "Hey, what system is that running on?". And then I started doing my research.

Some time after the Dreamcast was out, once used Saturns got to around 50$, I went to a gamestop (funcoland at that point) and picked one up. I then picked up the 4-in-1 cart and X-Men vs SF, Vampire Savior, and Radiant Silvergun (yes, I have an original copy). Some time after that, I got on SegaXtreme's forums and started downloading all these games I had heard good things about. Good times ensued.

Still haven't finished Panzer Dragoon Saga, nor have I played through Shining Force III. I intend to at some point in the future.

Side Note: I *REALLY* wish Policenauts and the other Shining Force scenarios would be translated into english.

Why don't we all share our love for our Modded Saturns...

Wasn't it a blissful moment when your Saturn first booted a backup of a game you've been dying to play like Radiant Silvergun or Panzer Dragoon Saga?

add me to the list of satisfied modded saturn owners. that little chip is pure awesomness!

Got my modchip from racketboy, and I installed the chip myself. I took my time and I was suprised that it worked the first time.

I have done 3 of them.. 2 which are mine. For me, I wanted to play backups so I didn't have to open games or worry about scratching them.

I have a modded Saturn (bought one of Racket's chips from a poster here) I can't seem to upload fast enough to keep Underground Gamer happy. I'm thinking of paying for Titan World at Sega Saturn US and not worry about upload speeds.

I don't intend to mod my saturn. I had to throw out my first one because of the damage i did to the motherboard trying to put in a region switch.

Diddo... but when I can afford to I am going to ship mine to Adderall, who said he would install it for me if I buy lunch!

Still got my chip... by the way, is it still usable if I failed my first attempt? Also the wires have fallen off the chip.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.
