Haven't they confirmed that the game-play is totally different and that even some plot points will be changed? I haven't been keeping the closest track of it. It does seem like much more than just a "remake" though.
Oh, yeah, the
FFVII remake is going to be completely different. It also sounds like it might ape the style of the upcoming
FFXV, instead of just being full action-RPG like
Crisis Core. Dunno, though.
Super Castlevania IV is another good example of a re-imagining. It loosely follows the same plot as the original
Castlevania, but has so many new elements that you really can't call it a "remake" in my mind.
As for the discussion about
Dracula X on SNES, I think it's pretty good, but it's definitely not balanced very well. It ain't
Rondo, sure, but it's still a competent (and sometimes maddeningly infuriating) game.
(I also think
Rondo is a bit overrated, but what do I know?
