Metroid 2 Remake AM2R Released!
Re: Metroid 2 Remake AM2R Released!
I downloaded Metroid 2 with the color hack a couple of years ago and played it on my psp. I thought it was great once I got familiar with it. The one thing I remember was there was no map. Does this remake have a map built in?

If Nintendo, just sold this game on the e-shop then everyone could make some money. Instead it's the whole C&D rigmarole.

As it stands now this game is a PC program. I'm not sure how it could run on any current Nintendo console or handheld via eShop.
The nice thing would be to pay/help the developer to port it to an eShop compatible format. But then that would be seen as encouraging other people to make non-Nintendo sanctioned games which utilize Nintendo IP, in hopes of getting the same deal. Well, that's not something their corporate side would want to see encouraged.
The sad thing is that obviously there's strong interest for another 2D Metroid. Since 2004, we've seen at least six new Kirby side scrolling platformers, and even more than that in new side scrolling Mario platformers. But not a single 2D style Metroid. While it may be true that Japan doesn't care about Metroid, the western markets do. And the western markets collectively are far larger than Japan's. It doesn't take a genius to do the math here. But no, please Nintendo, just give us another Kirby game.

That's not too dissimilar from what Sega is doing with Sonic Mania. They've got some of the best and brightest makers of Sonic fan games making an official sonic the hedgehog 2D side-scrolling platformer. I wish more big video game companies would try this.Exhuminator wrote:The nice thing would be to pay/help the developer to port it to an eShop compatible format. Don't get me wrong, I agree. Just playing devil's advocate. And by "devil", I mean corporate lawyers.samsonlonghair wrote:I wish more big video game companies would try this.

Nothing wrong with that. I've been known to play devil's advocate myself from time-to time.Exhuminator wrote:Don't get me wrong, I agree. Just playing devil's advocate. And by "devil", I mean corporate lawyers.samsonlonghair wrote:I wish more big video game companies would try this.

I guess it is hilarious to realize there probably is a lot more Kirby games in total than Metroid thesedays. Even Yoshi is getting up there.
