$400 for Playstation VR is still way better than the Oculus Rift ($600) or HTC Vive ($800), not to mention that you don't need a high-end PC (one that would easily cost three to four times as much as a PS4) to use it. Compared to the other VR headsets on the market, Playstation VR is dirt cheap.darsparx wrote:I know that exists but it's too freaking expensive it's like buying a whole console when you're just buying the goggles to handle the VR XD

The only problem with that is rift and vive are going to be able to play each others games and any other kind of media you want to use your VR for. The PlayStation thing is heavily restricted by being PS only

That's a fair point that I hadn't thought about.flash1987 wrote:The only problem with that is rift and vive are going to be able to play each others games and any other kind of media you want to use your VR for. The PlayStation thing is heavily restricted by being PS only

I do honestly hope though that they ammend the system to somehow include physical games. I hate digital especially since for me that would mean constantly buying more memory cards and needing to find somewhere with a decent internet speed unless I find a way to go super cheap into my own place and can afford a decent internet. Pikmin 3 took forever to download and my freebies on psn are a little much half the time(not to mention I think I might need to move those over to a seperate sd card soon...)

Surely an internet upgrade is cheaper than buying very expensive physical media?
Re: Miitomo and MyNintendo
I live at home, and prefer having the physical versions of games. I just don't have the same will to play the game if it's digital only in my collection. Plus the sound of a 3ds/ds cart sliding in is strangely relaxing.flash1987 wrote:Surely an internet upgrade is cheaper than buying very expensive physical media?
Edit: plus we've had this discussion before that my mom refuses to change providers since she works for the current one and gets a discount so I'm stuck at 6mb until they decide to upgrade us to "premium" speeds that I'm sure charlotte has already, and twc is kinda shady now especially in my area >_>

I'll just leave this here. It answers a lot of things people are bringing up and was released the same day as MyNintendo and Miitomo

“Initially, the focus is going to be on digital,” [Bill] Trinen says, “but we do have a lot of ideas for what roll out down the road for packaged goods or real world interactions. I think we’ll continue to look at My Nintendo and how we can grow that as a rewards program, so that it really is trying to encompass all the different touch points of how people come into contact with Nintendo products.”

Also we can't afford (literally) to forget about how dedicated Sony has been in the past to strange hardware upgrades which they put a lot of RnD into (PSP-Go, Playstation Move, Playstation Vita). They just seem to abandon things so quickly, for all the fuss they put into making them :/ElkinFencer10 wrote:That's a fair point that I hadn't thought about.flash1987 wrote:The only problem with that is rift and vive are going to be able to play each others games and any other kind of media you want to use your VR for. @Crono I'd hope so...I hate this movement to attempting to get people to go digital only...
@Partridge - seriously...move wasn't half bad from what I recall and had some interesting stuff for it. Vita's great too(one of my friends bought one off a coworker so now i have a friend to play with or share with ^_^). Sony really needs to learn how to market and sell their stuff(and when to freaking drop the prices on stuff like those memory cards
)
I've been adding points here and there using miitomo but yeah I can't wait for when they finally implement physical stuff. It'd be nice if it was a "first time you insert game x we'll give you x points" or something to that nature.

Re: Miitomo and MyNintendo
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to knock on the quality of that stuff. I love my Vita, and have always wanted to at least try out the move. I was just worried at given how readily they've abandoned other promising hardware, I'd wait and see how they treat Playstation VR before really hopping on the bandwagon for it.darsparx wrote:@Partridge - seriously...move wasn't half bad from what I recall and had some interesting stuff for it. That would be really nice though, considering that it does essentially link to your 3DS and Wii U by being able to tell if you're logged in to the eShop that week. Running a quick check and giving you like, 5 or 10 gold coins for any new physical 3DS games you might've bought would be a nice minimal concession to we physical guys.
