The forums are very good - was helpful to check in there while we all waited for the Vita Season 4 upgrade to finally happen. Lot of support for the Vita version there which was cool.

Completed the last 2 wizard goals I needed for the original Black Knight. 6 tables with all goals complete now.

New score too!

I tried to download this last night but was having internet trouble. Hopefully it'll be sorted soon.

I was surprised how pricy the game is. I wasn't expecting it to be dirt cheap, and there's a lot of content there, but the 3 seasons on Vita will set me back about £70. I think I'll just be getting the first 4 tables and leaving it at that.

If it was cheaper it would be of course better for buyers (assuming the company didn't go broke), but I think it compares favourably to traditional pinball videogames titles.

Pinball Dreams, Fantasies and Illusions, which have around 4 tables each game. I think they were priced as regular games so adjusting for inflation that is a higher cost per table at release time.

Pokemon Pinball Ruby and Saphire and Metroid Prime Pinball both have 2 main tables with a few small tables attached for bonus rounds/boss fights.

And there were also games that only had one table (sometimes a rather long one), like Devil Crush (1 main table with 3 sections and small tables for bonus rounds/boss fights).

I guess any game feels pricey nowadays because there are so many more games, many of which are free or extremely cheap (and some of them are very good "despite" being free). From the quality of the free table I'm tempted to buy more tables for Pinball Arcade, but I barely have the time to play games I already have and the free Arabian Nights table.

Pinball arcade is an absolute steal versus the price of even one machine in poo poo condition. Plus the space that is saved!

I don't think comparing to a real machine is a very enlightening comparison for most people.

I would compare either against other pinball videogames (as I did above) or other "score-attack" type of videogames that offer similar replay value.

I don't think comparing the amount of content to pinball games made in the 90s is necessarily helpful either in terms of content. Standards change - 1 table in a pinball game now would be seen as quite a rip-off just like a racing game with 3 tracks (such as Sega Rally on the Saturn) would be a bit of a joke.

I wasn't questioning the price to content ratio though mind. Just the price in general. £70 is basically the price of two full price games for my Wii U or 3DS. It's just a lot of money in general.

I agree that pricing (at least on Vita/PSTV) isn't cheap... but the PSN sale right now helps. While it lasts, you can get the base game plus two seasons worth of tables for $40. Seems expensive, but ends up giving you 41 tables. Under a buck per table seems pretty reasonable, even if a bunch of them are tables you wouldn't go out of your way for otherwise.

Ugh... Playing Tales of the Arabian Nights yesterday and got into "save the princess" mode on my first ball. Promptly got excited and saw the rest of my balls drain out without accomplishing anything of meaning.

You have to view pinball tables the same way as arcade games. This is not buying one game and getting a bunch of maps, this is buying one of the best arcade compilations ever made. But give the base tables a go and wait for the seasons to be on sale, there is plenty of fun in those four tables. TOTAN and Theatre of Magic alone will keep you busy for awhile. Black Hole is one of my favorites though. I use it to teach people techniques since the playfield is nice an open.
