certainly.

i5 4460
8 gb G.Skill ballistix RAM
R9 280x 3 GB
1.5 TB of free HD space
Corsair TX 650 PSU
Windows 7
ASRock H81M micro ATX
Cooler Master EVO 212
ditched the basic Rosewill FB-03 case for mid size Deepcool Kendomen case. Should be here next week.

I've installed and uninstalled this countless times. Could it be that somehow, someway that my PC is seeing and using previous settings buried somewhere deep?

thought you were upgrading to a GTX 970?

Anyway, let's take a look at the recommended specs:

OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
-you're good obviously.

CPU: AMD six core CPU @ 3.2 GHz, Intel quad core CPU @ 3.0 GHz
-you're good.

System RAM: 8 GB
-good.

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7870 or R9 270, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
-I don't know enough about AMD card models, but 280X is better than a 270, yeah?

Graphics Memory: 3 GB
-Got it.

Hard Drive: 26 GB
-Uh huh.

DirectX 11
-You have DX11 I assume??

So... alls I can think, again, is drivers. Are you certain that you killed your old GPU drivers and installed the correct new ones for your 280X? You're sure that all your mobo drivers are up to date? I mean everything points to you not only having the required specs, but actually the recommended specs. So it's gotta be something software related I'd think. Again, I'm not up on AMD GPU models too heavily, but it just seems like you shouldn't be having issues running this game.

wanted to in the worst way, trust me, but with the extra case, power supply, and cooler, well, that kinda dipped in what I had to spend, so I found a compromise. I went from a 260x to a 280x, which according to what I researched, is exponentially better. Best of all, I picked it up for about 1/3 of what a 970 would have run me.

It makes sense now with the drivers side of things. I thought I did get rid of the old drivers, but it's possible I skipped that part and went straight to the new. That'll be the first thing I look at tonight, and let you know the results. Thanks again noise :D

P.S. With the R9 360/390 on the horizon, I'm hoping to see a drop in price on a 970 at which point, I'll upgrade to.

If it runs a newer, more resource intense game such as The Witcher 3 then the game itseft isn't compatible with a driver. That's my guess.

I uninstalled AMD Catalyst and even went so far as to edit the registry by deleting any AMD,ATI folders. Rebooted to install the new drivers and i'm seeing a message that states that my R9 drivers are already installed. Not sure how that could be since I thought I was thorough in deleting any traces of anything AMD.
Had to leave for work, so will take another look at it this evening.

This was the cae for GTA V when it was released. AMD released a beta version of the drivers specifically for the game. Maybe this is the case as well.

For the hell of it, download Memtest86+ and run it for a while.

Before any one suggests "But he runs other games without issues" I'd like to remind every one that you can get the weirdest problems with bad RAM. I've seen issues like Fire Fox not working but Internet Explorer working fine. I've seen a computer with a bad stick of RAM that worked perfectly fine most of the time, but would get the occasional system error. Anything is possible.

I don't keep up on AMD, but I'm fairly certain I remember reading about a DA:I beta driver as well.

OK, wiped my system clean of all the AMD/ATI drivers with DDU, reinstalled the most recent drivers, ran memtest (which came back clean) and still the same issue with DAI. Any other suggestions?

Hit up the BioWare/EA forums. There's going to be a much larger number of DAI players there with varying hardware configurations who might have ideas for you.
