Not a bit. I believe they are trying to not have a blur between possession and breaking the plane. One of the many horrible rule changes in the NHL was the "player in the crease rule". It made perfect sense; the goalie has a teeny tiny area where players can't cross or run into/slash/block the goalies vision/score from.
And if someone got into his crease, the goalie was allowed to push the player out of said crease. Now you can have all five offensive players in the crease, shoving the puck in without taking an honest shot. Wish they would bring the crease rule back.
But for the NFL, it does look like the tuck rule is gone for good.
