Hm? It was to my understanding that you always hurt the ones you love?

Do I need to make some apologies?

Here are my gaming goals for 2015:

* Beat between 10 and 20 games on my "to beat" list. (I keep a list of about 100 classic games I have never beaten. I would like to continue shipping away at it, and I suspect that the "summer gaming challenge" will help me with this goal.)*

* Beat all of the games in at last one modern gaming series. (I have beaten one game in each of the the Arkham, Devil May Cry, and Uncharted series, and I am about to beat a game in the Ratchet & Clank series. I would not mind finishing up at least on of these series before the end of the year.)

* Beat one SRPG. (I have never beaten an SRPG, and at some point I really need to play through Final Fantasy Tactics, Shining Force, or Shining Force II.)

* Beat one modern WRPG. (For some reason, I have never played any of the games in the Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, KOTOR, or Mass Effect series.)

* Beat all of my 3DS games. (I don't have that many 3DS games. If I put my mind to it, I should be able to beat al of them.)

* Beat Dragon Quest II. (If I knock that one out, then I will have the first four Dragon Quest games under my belt.)

* Beat all of the games in The Legend of Zelda series. (Not counting the CD-I titles, the only ones I have not beaten are Four Swords Adventures, Hyrule Warriors, A Link Between Worlds, and Skyward Sword. I love the series; so, I will probably enjoy all of these games.)

* Beat R-Type Delta. (This amazing - and amazingly difficult - shmup beat me in 2014.)

* Acquire a Retron 5.

* Collect at least two more sub-sets of 2600 games. (I only need two games to complete my collection of Atari "picture label" games, and I am very close to finishing up my CBS, Coleco, and M-Network collections.)

* Collect all first-party Atari 5200 games. (In only need three games - Ballblazer, Gremlins, and Rescue on Fractalus - to complete this set.)

* Finish off either my Wii or Xbox collections. (I only need 31 games to finish off my Wii collection, and I only need 29 games to finish off my Xbox collection.)

* Photograph my collection and post the pictures to the forums. (For most of my collection, this will not be that hard. I just need to do it.)

* Tie video games into my recreational reading. (I recently finished up a collection of H.P. Lovecraft stories, and I currently playing through Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Reading H.P. Lovecraft's work before playing the game makes me appreciate both more, and I hope to engage in at least three more reading/videogaming cross-overs before the end of the year. My current plans include: (1) reading Monkey: A Folk Novel of China before playing through several games based on The Journey to the West (i.e., Enslaved, Monkey Magic, Saint, etc.); (2) reading Atlas Shrugged before playing through Bioshock; and (3) reading Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None before playing through The Adventure Company's "port" of the novel. Are there any other "cross-overs" that I should consider?)

I like to tie in books and movies with my gaming where I can. I'm trying to do so for Together Retro as much as possible this year. So far I've come up with reading Masters Of Doom for Quake in March, watching the Mortal Kombat movies in July, and watching Special When Lit for Pinball Arcade in August. I definitely like to try to get into the TR games with supplemental material where possible.

Awesome games, but may be tough for a newbie. I think Shining Force 1 and/or 2 is the easiest way to get into the genre.

I am planning on reading this too....but before March. I have read bits and pieces in the past, and it is pretty interesting.

Final Fantasy Tactics is a good idea.

But then again, I'm supposed to say XCOM aren't I?

1. Get an NES that works properly.

2. Try not to sway very far from my 2015 collection goals. Mostly SNES "essentials" and obscure SFC games.

3. Convince my fiance to let me hook up my CRT somewhere in our pretty small apartment.

4. Go to more flea markets this year.
