Should the list be any and all games that fit a category? Top 10? 20? 30? 100?
We could start a new thread for best retro-style indie games available on Steam and take nominations...

Yup, sounds like the best plan to me. Want to be the one responsible for it, or should I?J T wrote: We could start a new thread for best retro-style indie games available on Steam and take nominations...
Maybe we can add like 10 games on the list each month? This way the list doesn't just get filled with too many games too fast.
I also wanted to add the idea for a local-multiplayer list, since that's also something distinctively retro in feel.

Re: Racketboy steam curator group. Halloween themed games
Check OP for details on how this will work.
Theme for the next 2 weeks:Halloween
Even though we don't celebrate it over here, I thought by the time this list is going to be published it's going to be near halloween for you guys, and what better way to celebrate by some halloween themed games?
These can be either horror games, or something cartoonish that has to do with halloween. It can be indie, it can be retro, it can be whatever you want, as long as it shits your pants and/or involves dressing up and getting free candy. Looking forward to your ideas/reviews
Deadline for submissions is till 15/10 so you have plenty of time

I'll toss in a nomination for Costume Quest.

Re: Racketboy steam curator group. Halloween themed games
I'd nominate Among The Sleep. Not really earth-shattering, but definitely a unique concept.
EDIT:
Among The Sleep is a 2014 indie game. It's a first person adventure/horror game in which you play as a 3 year old who is stuck in a nightmare. It's not super long, and there's not a ton of action, but it's atmospheric and an interesting experience that can be completed in a few hours. I'd probably recommend it to folks that enjoyed Dear Esther, Gone Home, etc. but always like things a little creepier.

meh I guess we can screw the review rule. Ok guys, nominate games, but providing a review to go with it would be awesome
Also your nominations are accepted
EDIT
well this is the only "horror themed" game I played so....I nominate The Secret World:

EDIT
well this is the only "horror themed" game I played so....I nominate The Secret World:

How can an environment where you constantly run into other players provoke fear? That thought
must have gone through Ragnar Tørnquist's mind a lot during development of The Secret World,
a paranormal MMO which can best be described as "mature themed Harry Potter". But don't let
that description fool you, this game makes the most of its mature content to create a feeling
of dread for the player. That evil forces are among us and it's only the player factions that
can contain it.
While The Secret World has a well designed battle system, and a leveling system that makes changing
class roles a breeze (not to mention it gives you a reason to keep questing for a very long time),
the game really shines when it comes to quest design. The player has to overcome demons and monsters
in battle but also use his wits to solve ancient puzzles that will lead to the unraveling of the
conspiracy behind everything. At times you will feel alone and helpless, that you are in way over
your head. That's when you will learn to hide and avoid combat to survive.
While exploring the world and completing quests you will discover the most developed and well presented
lore of any mmo game there has ever been. But as you will find out this isn't a world you will want to
live in, for under the street you walk on, is the entrance to an ancient crypt full of darkness and evil.

Re: Racketboy steam curator group. Halloween themed games
Sorry, I haven't played enough of Costume Quest to review it. I just think it's a great Halloween themed game.
I could review some games I've actually played through. I think I have a review of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Machine for Pigs essentially written already, but it feels kind of pointless to review popular horror titles rather than lesser-known titles that deserve some love.

Perhaps I chose a too restrictive theme for first try, but it's Halloween so...

Nah, it isn't too restrictive. It's just that a lot of us are busy!
