Just pointing out that the only reason Birdo is trans is because Nintendo thought it'd be an amusing character quirk. It definitely wasn't an attempt at being inclusive. NoA has also made a very pointed effort to downplay her gender.
The same can be said for Poison, arguably the most famous transgender character in video games. She's officially transgender only in the United States because Capcom thought it was more acceptable to beat up a transgender woman than a non-transgender woman.
Oh don't even get me started...

So is this "damn Japanese white supremacists" or what? Does it bother you that it's 2014 and we don't have a black/brown character yet?
Wait, what? People find the most random things to get upset about.

Technically the Mushroom kingdom is locked in a civil war between the White Toadstools and the Brown Goombas. How the turtles got in the mix, now thats a different question.

Information is unclear on the topic, but Poison was already referred as "newhalf" in the game's design documents so it was not just a localization change.

She was just forced to not dress in the US version:

Doesn't bother me at all. I don't see any legitimate reason why it's an issue. By all means, if they come up with a cool character concept of a different skin color or whatever, then add them, but... Yeah, it just matters so darn little to me. As long as the game is good, I could care less either way.

Thats a common arguement from those with white privilege. Not saying you are one though.
