I think MrPopo was alluding to a non CRT HDTV? I tried hooked up a PS2 with Component 480p to a HD LCD and it looked like dog poop. This was only being upscaled to an older 720 LCD screen.Hobie-wan wrote:Why isn't that on component sir?MrPopo wrote:A/V Switch 1 (all S-Video): PS2
Aren't there issues with some games over component into an HDTV?
Hmm, maybe I'm just lucky since mine is ED not HD.
I use a WEGA HDCRT and have no issues with any of the non HD as well as HD consoles. Purists will scream scanlines for the older systems, but I'm pretty happy with the sharp imagery even with the retro consoles.
Same with BlueRay previews, shouting out on a DVD. Damn they look good, wait a minute its on a DVD!darsparx wrote:My only beef with it is I wish it was a auto-switch. I still seem to forget which input is which sometimes. And that's with the fact mine are labeled with a notecard I taped on. I really should organize it though I need to clean up the power cords and such....
I don't know but I thought all the people on this site recommended that you use component over composite/s-video. Since I'm not a true video/audiophile it doesn't bug me that bad of course I don't have a side by side comparison to know the difference. That's why i hated those commercials that compared sd to hd on a sd screen >_< that just makes no sense...
You really want to use the best possible connection for each console. SVideo has Chroma and Luma signals isolated for a cleaner signal. Component allows 480p; a huge improvement!

I do not care for the Auto Switchers, sometimes I will have a second console powered up say for installing a game while playing another game on a different console. Only auto switch is on my Atari 5200, but it has its own dedicated RF connection anyways.
