Aren't there issues with some games over component into an HDTV?
Why isn't that on component sir?

Hmm, maybe I'm just lucky since mine is ED not HD.
I think MrPopo was alluding to a non CRT HDTV? I tried hooked up a PS2 with Component 480p to a HD LCD and it looked like dog poop. This was only being upscaled to an older 720 LCD screen.

I use a WEGA HDCRT and have no issues with any of the non HD as well as HD consoles. Purists will scream scanlines for the older systems, but I'm pretty happy with the sharp imagery even with the retro consoles.

I don't know but I thought all the people on this site recommended that you use component over composite/s-video. Since I'm not a true video/audiophile it doesn't bug me that bad of course I don't have a side by side comparison to know the difference. That's why i hated those commercials that compared sd to hd on a sd screen >_< that just makes no sense...
Same with BlueRay previews, shouting out on a DVD. Damn they look good, wait a minute its on a DVD!

You really want to use the best possible connection for each console. SVideo has Chroma and Luma signals isolated for a cleaner signal. Component allows 480p; a huge improvement!

I do not care for the Auto Switchers, sometimes I will have a second console powered up say for installing a game while playing another game on a different console. Only auto switch is on my Atari 5200, but it has its own dedicated RF connection anyways.

Probably that was referring to some HDTVs refuse to accept 240p component.

I've been modding my systems to get rid of proprietary cables, just have default RCA/S-Vid jacks on the back of them. That way, I just leave 1 set of Component/S-Video/Composite cables hooked up to the back of my TV, and switch them at the system side.

This takes a few extra seconds to start playing on a new system, but with 20-25 systems out, I REALLY don't want to have them all plugged in and drawing power (even powered off, anything plugged in draws power) anyway, so if I'm plugging it into the power strip, I might as well just plug in the AV connections too.

Between those 3 standard cables, a Nintendo cable, and a Playstation cable, I can hook up basically everything. My only 6-gen and prior systems that require a cable that's not one of those 5 at this moment are my Jaguar (which is currently off being investigated to see if it can be Component modded with RCA jacks), my Master System (which can be modded, just haven't gotten around to it), my Odyssey^2 (same), and my Fairchild Channel F (which I have yet to find a working mod for and annoys me that it's RF-only). 7th gen systems are hooked up via HDMI to the flat panel.
That's not a whole lot different from the method I posted above.

I too have been adding standard AV jacks to my consoles. It makes things a lot easier. Especially when you don't wanna fork over the money a Saturn S-Video cable costs, or other consoles that you're limited to shit quality cables. And of course, in the case where you added a video signal that didn't come stock (S-Video on the Genesis for example).

Yeah glad they don't do that anymore...but sadly on my mom's rca hdtv(which is a early model hd tv since it has the speaker at the bottom) I never noticed that with skyward sword(of course I haven't played in a long time because I hate having to play in my mom's living room. But I guess that is a valid point but I don't have any decent console that allows downloads in my room so I guess it doesn't really matter ha ha
