Good looking out - thanks.Sload Soap wrote:As long as you download the games in the window they are free, they are yours. I downloaded Halo 3, deleted it and still have the option to "download again".retrosportsgamer wrote:This thread probably fits what I'm going to ask so here goes:
Is it accurate that unlike PS+, the free "Games with Gold" that Microsoft has been releasing are "yours" (in the digital sense) and will not go away once your subscription expires, correct?
Not sure if you can on a silver membership though.

IMO, both Batman games are great; I personally liked Asylum better.
I recommend getting it as well.

Take a look at my guide in my signature. The Xbox has the advantage where most of the Game of The Year re-releases come with a second, and in most cases share-able, disc that has the DLC where it can be installed onto the console. It's a decent list I put together for people who want to hunt down these types of releases.

Re: XBOX 360 General Discussion
So, I currently have a Falcon revision 360. Compared to the 3 Zephyr models I've had, I noticed the fan is extremely quiet and doesn't really seem to speed up or slow down. I'm not sure if that's normal or not. The air coming out the back is only moderately warm. I'd think that if it were having heat issues the fan would ramp up? I know this model is a bit more reliable than the early ones but I worry about the thermal compound maybe being worn out.
Hasn't shut off during any long gaming sessions yet but, after 3 of these things crapping out on me I'm a bit careful and try to keep an eye on it. The Xenon and Zephyr ones never really gave much warning before kicking the bucket.

Falcon is the last chip before they went to slims, right?
That's what I have, and unless I'm really gaming for some long sessions, it never gets too hot. A bit warm maybe, but nothing bad. 90% of keeping those late model fats from RROD is just keeping up airflow. I personally have mine sitting horizontal, while sitting up on a couple of books so the vents on the bottom side can be used to.

No, Jasper is the first one before the Slims and they run remarkably better than the other fats.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Falcon is the last chip before they went to slims, right?

Airflow on mine is super good. We keep the house cool (about 70f) and I can feel it sucking the air through the right vent. As I said, so far it doesn't seem to have any issues and hopefully it stays that way.
It's a shame they tend to fail so much because I much prefer how the original 360 looks over the Slim (although the E is super nice).

Oh, gotcha.
You should be okay though, methinks. I've been thinking about waiting until the 360 pretty much goes under, than running some custom firmware and such on it.

How is custom firmware on the 360 these days? Does it work well as an emulation machine like the oXbox or is it still a bit basic?Forlorn Drifter wrote:Oh, gotcha.

Also, as I said in the random gaming thoughts, I popped in Gears of War and I get a bunch of white block artifacts all over the screen while playing it. I can't recreate it in any other game but it still worries me since that definitely screams hardware issue. Probably going to specifically hunt down a Jasper unit (they're cheap anyway) so I can reuse my hard drive and maybe just keep this one as a spare or run it till it breaks.

Re: XBOX 360 General Discussion
Personally I wouldn't feel all to confident regarding any of the fat models. Maybe the bitter taste it left me.
I would try to get a new one honestly. I think the cheapest is the 4gb model at $180. Just use flash drives for expanded memory. Keep in mind that the new "E" model is composite or HDMI out only.
But you do decide to get another fat model make sure you can connect to the Internet and download the latest firmware update to use flash drives for memory and transfers. Sometimes it's difficult to track down that special wire for transfers.

Re: XBOX 360 General Discussion
I've had a number of fat models crap out on me, although my most recent one has been fine. My issue is I've got a nearly full 100 GB hard drive from the old model. How do I move that to one of the new ones with the internal HD should something happen?
