Re: What about next-gen?
The first but not the only person. I never really had an interest in the Wii U either and like you it's not because I dislike what Nintendo is doing but I'm too apathetic about it to justify getting into it. There were some things I really liked on the Wii but nothing I honestly couldn't live without. I like my Gamecube but it's practically a dedicated Game Boy Player these days and if the Retron 5 is any good then it will lose its purpose to that.brunoafh wrote:I guess I'll be the first person with zero interest in the WiiU. My Gamecube and Wii remain pretty much my least played consoles that I have ever owned and I am pretty sure the WiiU would rank among them. I can't say Nintendo has been doing anything wrong, probably the opposite, but they are just simply not doing a thing for me in terms of games.
Although I like the idea of PC gaming, the games that I enjoy just don't come out on PC. It kind of sucks because I would definitely be getting them if they were. I'm talking about mainly JP developed niche games, which very rarely land anywhere but on console and handhelds.
I have a feeling I'll be moving more towards the PC myself this coming generation, but it does suck for some of those niche titles, yes.
Re: What about next-gen?
I guess I'll give some more info on my approach then too !
I own an extensive collection of X360 games and I was always going for the "up to date" approach... But I did play some of the earliest games for the 360 that I *really* enjoyed so I started looking back even more... I dusted off my original XBOX, restored my PS2 to function and even took my PS1 for a restoration as well...
To cut it short, I am trying to acquire the "must have" games per console and I already own a decent gaming PC for those PC titles (Witcher 1 comes to mind, Serious Sam 1-3 even if its not PC only anymore, Amnesia,Penumbra and all those new Steam/Indie titles coming out).
I also own a Wii (I only played Wii Tennis and Wii PArty on it even if I own a LOT of games for it), a PS3 and a PSP and I regret selling my NDS
I never considered the Wii U to be honest but maybe I should... I have no clue what's going on there
But I feel there's SO MUCH unexplored territory for me in gaming even if i'm into it since my 5th year of age that I cannot justify spending anymore money on "new" and "shiny" stuff...Watchdogs? Looks great...I can still play it sometime in the near future... I think I'm at a point where I can appreciate it NOW or in 5 years just the same... Maybe I'm maturing

Re: What about next-gen?
Does next gen count new pc's? Most of you know how I feel about next gen, but I am planning on getting a new gaming pc soonish...depends if I can afford it.
I suppose if I had to get something I would get the 3DS, but isn't that "current" gen?

3DS is the succesor of the Ds so is next gen in the handled section.GirlGamer55 wrote:Does next gen count new pc's? Most of you know how I feel about next gen, but I am planning on getting a new gaming pc soonish...depends if I can afford it.

Pretty much this.Damm64 wrote:3DS is the succesor of the Ds so is next gen in the handled section.GirlGamer55 wrote:I suppose if I had to get something I would get the 3DS, but isn't that "current" gen?
Besides, in a couple of months the two new "Next Gen" systems are going to become "Current Gen" systems, making the distinction pretty pointless.
Re: What about next-gen?
I have a Wii U and it's getting a lot of play at the moment. Probably more than any console I own, which is a first since I bought it at launch.
Now I have Rayman Legends, Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101, I can't stop playing it. I've also started a new game on ZombiU and have been enjoying some multiplatform games like Injustice Gods Among Men. Plus, I can't forget Monster Hunter Ultimate either. The months ahead are definitely looking bright for me as a Wii U owner, with Sonic Lost Worlds, Wind Waker HD, Mario 3D World and a number of other cracking titles coming out from now until next year.
I've also pre-ordered a PS4, as I said in the 'Why are you buying a PS4?' thread, because I love my PS3 and it's just the next logical step for a gamer who buys anything shiny and new. At the moment there aren't really any PS4 games that interest me much though...

Re: What about next-gen?
If you already have PS Plus you can use the PSN web store to add the free games to your download list. Then when I actually get one I will still have access to the games. ;Doxymoron wrote:I will be buying the PS4 day one. Mainly because I plan to get one in the first year anyway, so why not buy it day one and get Driveclub and Resogun for free? Waiting for the first price drop is stupid. It will probably take at least 1.5 years and will be $50 off. Why not pay $50 more, get a few free games and start enjoying day one?
And I'm not really worried about saving money on a price drop as much as I just don't have enough time for so many new systems this fall. Haha

Re: What about next-gen?
That's a smart idea. I was going to wait till some time next year too (assuming that's what you're doing) but I recently started work again and hopefully will be able to squeeze the $520 (PS4, game, PS plus and tax included) needed. I don't really have a incentive to buy PS4. I'm getting one on release because i'm going to buy one anyway in the first year. Is there a specific reason you're getting one?CavZee wrote:If you already have PS Plus you can use the PSN web store to add the free games to your download list. Re: What about next-gen?
I'll not buy a PS4 because I never owned a PS3. That makes busy for a full generation in the future . PS3 graphics looks awesome , will have price cuts, all the good games will be very cheap soon.
PS4 will probably have issues with first batches, price probably will drop if I wait, and is not backward compatible with all the good ps3 games like Red Dead Redemption and Uncharted . Plus a big reason I am going for the ps3 is the PSN store with all the PS2, PSX classics. I hope that does not shut down any time soon.
I am very interested to see how the X1 will do. Something tells me that even though it will not win next generation sales, it will be a very unique system.
I have 0 interest in the Wii. Maybe a SteamBox if it ever gets released.
