Is it possible to make a sega saturn s-video cable
Re: Is it possible to make a sega saturn s-video cable
Curious. If I mod only the video and leave the av plug in for sound, wont this mean the system is outputting video on the composite and s-video lines? Or is that not how it works?

You'd be able to hook up 2 TVs yes, as long as the output signal was strong enough for there to be a load on both.

The output would be present, but there'd be no load on the circuit unless you connected the composite video cable to a TV. If you just tap the s-video from the bottom of the jack, the normal composite A/V cable is fine to use for sound, and just leave the video plug unplugged on the TV end (honestly, plugging it in is really unlikely to hurt anything at all).

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.

You can safely plug both in if you wanted. I've done this countless times on different systems so that I could compare composite and S-Video.

I keep seeing this guy sell s-video adapters for Saturn:

Does anyone have any info about it?

Well, looks like it is a convenient box that fits in there that you have to solder anyway. It is probably just the plugs in a plastic box with the wires, but that's a pretty good idea. Just leave enough wire length so you can pop it out to get to change batteries.SaturnHST wrote:I keep seeing this guy sell s-video adapters for Saturn:

Oddly enough. In the picture it looks like he is using his own box to power the sound, but not the video. Not the plug in the actual video out slot of the Saturn.

Weird. The game randomly is saying my control pad is disconnected. It doesn't happen often but it happened 3 times whiles playing mega man X4. Could this be related to maybe some grounds not being properly grounded? (I am still using my gheto plug thing)
I wouldn't think it would have anything to do with it, but you guys know more than I.

Does this happen with all your controllers, or just one?treepop wrote:Weird. The game randomly is saying my control pad is disconnected. I don't know if this is the problem you're having, but I've had this happen to me once...
I got a Sega brand model 2 Saturn controller from a buddy, but it didn't work. When I finally decided to take a look at it, the fix was so easy. In the connector plug (that plug that you plug into the console) one of the pins was pushed back. You can use a small flat head screwdriver to crack open the plug. All the pins are in grooves. One pin was pushed back in the groove, so it was not making contact when plugged in. All I had to do was push that pin back up. I added a little hot glue back by the wires for good measure, as I could see it eventually sliding back again.
So you might wanna check that. Maybe there's a pin in your plug that's pushed back, but not far enough so that it never makes contact. Perhaps it's right on the verge, so that it makes contact most of the time but will some times lose the connection (at which point you get the "no controller" message). Get a flash flight and look at the pins in the plug. Make sure all the pins are where they should be. Compare it to another controller, if possible.
