Man, my PC just doesn't cut it anymore.
Granted, my computer is like 7 years old and I should upgrade, but it's sad that it can't run a simple (or so I though) homebrew game. Seems like it could have been programed to cater to more basic hardware.
All well,
...saving it for when I do finally get a more current PC.

Re: Street Fighter X Mega Man Released Today, Free-To-Downlo
My laptop can play a lot of similar and better indie titles and some great PC games from the last few years but it just won't run this; so don't put your PC down too much.
This is just poorly optimized and programmed. A Game Maker game that rings in at 40mb shouldn't have any problems running.

But it's running perfectly fine for me and other people. So I don't know if it's poorly programmed. There's gotta be some settings problems, or maybe some windows compatibility problems going on here.KDub wrote:My laptop can play a lot of similar and better indie titles and some great PC games from the last few years but it just won't run this; so don't put your PC down too much.

We may be in the minority but we aren't the only three.
The game has no settings and compatibility issues...with Windows 7? Really...?

Ah, the joy of PC gaming. It's like trying to figure out why games like Hotline Miami and Anachronox randomly crash or lock up on me. PC games are just funny like that.BurningDoom wrote:But it's running perfectly fine for me and other people. So I don't know if it's poorly programmed. No problems here. Plugged in my USB pad and it worked fine without any adjustments.
Re: Street Fighter X Mega Man Released Today, Free-To-Downlo
Got around to playing this through today.
The first thing worth mentioning is that this is probably the easiest classical style Mega Man game I've played. It has some tough moments (like Vega for instance) but overall I just sort of felt like I walked through most of the levels.
The stages and music in general were great and the enemy designs were for the most part way better than I expected them to be. I have to give this game credit for its integration of Street Fighter characters into the Mega Man formula, the boss battles were generally good and the game does a good job adapting their abilities into ones that fit the style of a Mega Man game. I will say that I found the ultras a little cheesy and tacked on at times. Some were interesting like Urien's Aegis reflector, but others like Chun Li's just felt pointless (The fact that she goes through an entire would-be combo and the general slowness of the attack make its inclusion just feel arbitrary).
The boss powers in this game were kind of subpar, most of them lacked any sort of use besides to kill the boss that was weak against them (sure this happens in a lot of Mega Man games, but play through the better ones like 9 and you'll see how much even just a couple of well thought out boss weapons can add to the game). Probably the one big complaint that I have about this game is how rough around the edges it feels at times. The lack of a save system or even just a password system is kind of ridiculous. Some stages (like Rolento's) are weirdly short. We got Balrog and Vega as bosses but Sagat was nowhere to be found. The game just feels incomplete sometimes. I know that this started off as a fan project, but it is an officially licensed Capcom product and as such carries some expectations.
Overall a good game, but not particularly great. I didn't get the secret fight with Akuma and honestly I don't think I'm really interested in playing the game again to do so.

so I don't know if you guys saw this, but in January Capcom actually put out an updated version (SFxMM 2.0) that added some features including a password system so you can save your game. However, here's the odd thing... the original game recognized my USB controller just fine. The 2.0 version won't seem to recognize it at all.

Re: Street Fighter X Mega Man Released Today, Free-To-Downlo
Tried my hand at it. I tried the Chun Li stage and got my ass handed to me. That being said it's fun...I just have to get used to the controls I guess. Oh but I did notice that the game froze/slowed down each time I picked up an orb. A split second but enough for me to notice it was doing it. Other then that it ran fine for me.
I'm using a Vista though so...
