Disney still refuses to release an uncut, widescreen version of The Muppet Christmas Carol (It's missing the song and the scene featuring "When Love Is Gone.") If they won't release an uncut Muppet movie, than I'm skeptical whether they'd go through the trouble of re-mastering the original trilogy.AppleQueso wrote:Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh they likely exist. Even if not, there's a billion ways they could do it if they wanted. Even if the negatives are actually destroyed (which I kinda doubt), there's still the inter-positives, and even if that's not an option, there's plenty of high quality prints in the hands of collectors.StuntDouble wrote:I wonder if this means we might see a re-release of the non-Special Edition Original Trilogy. I know it's a long shot, since Lucas says they don't exist, but there has to be a print left somewhere.
You can always hope, though.

It's not like it was more likely when Lucas had full control. It seems like a tossup as to whether we'll get it now, which is an improvement from "not happening".Michi wrote:Disney still refuses to release an uncut, widescreen version of The Muppet Christmas Carol (It's missing the song and the scene featuring "When Love Is Gone.") Until someone says "no" I'll remain hopeful.

Asking me whether I would prefer modern Lucas or Disney to have the rights to Star Wars is like asking me whether I would rather make sweet love to a Wookie or an Ewok.

Oh, you can have hope all you want. Far be it from me to take that from you.AppleQueso wrote:It's not like it was more likely when Lucas had full control. I'm just saying that, for some reason, Disney keeps releasing The Muppet Christmas Carol with 4 missing minutes.
Consistently.
With no explanation.
A freaking Muppet movie.
What about that scene is so traumatizing to them that they feel it must be cut? Do they think it will inflict horrible sadness on children or something? I don't know, and they won't say.
Now, I'm not saying that they won't release the unedited trilogy. Hell, I hope they do. I hope they release that and the remastered trilogy to boot (It's theirs now. They can milk it for all it's worth for all I care.) I'm just saying that I won't be holding my breath.

Ignoring all the other ramifications, the Star Wars canon geek in me is wondering what the plot of Star Wars 7 might be. Would it be an adaptation of an existing story in the EU, or would it be something new? If it's something new, are they going to place it at a time that it completely fucks up the current EU canon?

Oh trust me, I'm not holding my breath for it. Hopefully someone asks whoever is in charge of all of this about it and we at least get an answer as to whether they're considering it.Michi wrote: Now, I'm not saying that they won't release the unedited trilogy.
