i wonder if we can change that blood to red if we use a game genie...like they did with the first Mortal Kombat.

Three superfamciom exclusives that will blow your mind:
Battle Tetris Gaiden
Battle Cross
Battle Jockey
Ok, maybe not blow your mind, but they all have battle in the title. The first two are excellent, the last is a joke entry - though I really want a cart, it is Mario Kart on Horses.

The Donkey Kong Country series is one of the best group of games of all time. If those don't convince you, I don't know what will. I play them more than anything on my SNES (of course there are other magnificent games, but I just listed my favorite). But like the others have said, the Genesis is a great alternative.

I would say it really depnds on what you want to play. Here are a few to look into:
Fighting:
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Mortal Kombat 2
Killer Instinct
Beat Em Ups/ Hack n Slash:
Knights of the Round
King of Dragons
Magic Sword
FPS:
Wolfenstein 3D
Racing:
Mario Kart
F-Zero
Action:
Super Metroid
X-Men: Children of the Atom
Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Cybernator
Goof Troop
Mega Man X
Mega Man 8
There are some hidden gems that don't get discussed much, like The Peacekeepers or Super Ninja Boy. There is a lot of garbage too, but I would hate for you to miss out on some great games.

Better, how? Are you a big advocate of purple blood or something?
I know I'm being a smartass but I'm genuinely curious.
Which is fine. I'll just borrow Zing's answer

I never liked that black bar. I know the blood isn't really *blood* but purple liquid-substance fits the B-movie theme just as well. I like being able to turn the radar on and off too. Plus, the extra buttons come in handy for inventory management.
Someone mentioned RunSaber, Cybernator, and Metal Warriors. INTERNET HIGH FIVE

I think it's the most well known games he doesn't really enjoy. I mean if you think about it the most popular games on the system are either Nintendo, Capcom, Konami or Square Soft games. Which of course are awesome, but their software catalog has the same "feel".
I'm not saying the games weren't varied or not excellent (the SNES is in my top 5 consoles of all time, and I could find 50 games I WANT on the system), but that they pretty much play to the same audience. Like how Xbox games pretty much attract the one specific type of gamer.
Does that mean this kind of gamer has bad taste, or doesn't look for variety in his games? Of course not. But it means that there are specific things he likes in his games, even if they are totally different genres.
So I believe if you like some of the most popular SNES games, you are going to LOVE the console because of the high quality of those games and because there were so many of them created aimed at the same market.
But if your tastes are different, then even if the software is very high quality, you are just not going to enjoy the console.
Mind you I think that the SNES is probably the most mainstream retro console, I mean by faaaaar it's the most loved one by Retro Gamers, but obviously Norris has different tastes (arcade/sega/pc geek), and Nintendo doesn't offer that stuff. What it offers is AMAZING, but even Nintendo can't cover EVERY corner of the gaming market.
EDIT: also, Megaman 8 was on the PS1 mate

. You are talking about either Megaman 7 or Megaman and Bass, but imo Megaman X2 is better than those 2

. Now X3.....

Clearly the
S is a superior letter to the
N. All the coolest things in life start with S (sex, sweet, super ect.). What stuff starts with N? Nausea, necrophilia and other bad stuff.
Not to mention the curves of the S beat the corners of N any day.

Yeah, I have trouble typing on my cell phone. I meant Mega Man 7, as I don't like MM8 much.
But while I did give him some of the mainstream games, I also wanted to point out that there is a bit hidden away in there that he might not have heard about. I'd hardly call Cybernator mainstream. And who knows? He might like it. Is it worth picking up a SNES for? Probably not. But there might also be other hidden gems he really enjoys. Just because the big names don't appeal to one, doesn't mean that the console holds nothing for you. I don't care for Sonic games or many of the Sega Genesis' big titles, but that doesn't mean I will write off the console entirely. There's bound to be something that interests me on it.
