Why Isn't There a FPS Section on the Boards?

That's a mods only sub forum.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Bashing Call of Duty and Gears of War is a frequent topic
That's amazing, because Gears of War isn't even an FPS. Bashing a game that isn't even an FPS as an FPS is a testament to how much people hate FPSs on Racketboy.
Haha yeah, I like Gears, but it just gets lumped together in the 'shooter' category

Is that why noise has 10k more posts than everyone else?

Not the first one in the series, I hope. I enjoy FPS very much, I still play UT2004 online multiplayer pretty much every night and I just picked up Call of Duty Game of The Year edition. It's nice to play on my laptop because I can max out all the graphic settings.

It didn't really get bad until Modern Warfare, but it still wasn't anything spectacular before that, just not terrible.

The original was impressive compared to what else existed in the way of WWII shooters back in 2003. COD2 and COD3 were admittedly unimpressive (although 2 was still a fun game), MW1 was amazing when it first came out (and still one of the best FPS games ever IMO) and there's nothing really to complain about in WAW's case. It wasn't until MW2 that the whole thing started getting stale.

There is not enough draw for an FPS only board. The other genre subforum, barely gets enough attention as is.

The thing that has always confused me is why the Sony and Microsoft boards are the same. There was no Xbox back when I had my PlayStation!

Because the two systems are effectively identical now.

I see it more that there are only two companies that (apparently) warrant their own specific boards. Nintendo and Sega.

Relative to those companies, MS and/or Sony have not only been the only other major players for close to twenty years, but they've been largely more successful - though likely in part to a much larger video game buying public. As ubiquitous as the NES might have seemed, the 360 and PS3 have both outsold it, and their sales combined don't match the PS2's total.

They're too large to file under "misc", but perhaps lack the heritage to warrant their own boards (though a couple more years and Sony will have had home consoles on the market as long as Sega did). I dunno. Just my impression.
