Yeah, basically.

The demeaning people generally wont change their opinions so I find it pointless to try (such as my grandparents). My dad brought up gaming to me about a year ago and he's accepted it as a solid and respectable media. He has his TV shows every night. I have my video games. :)

He has even been taking interest in them! Unfortunately he doesn't really have the patience to relearn how to play them. He played a lot of Combat Flight Simulator and Doom when I was younger, but he sort of just drifted away from the hobby. He still just likes to watch me play Tribes and Trackmania every once in a while though.

NEVER TOO OLD. Bought a 5200 new and was around when the Pong Arcade was installed at the bowling alley. I'll play games till I die. Oh and get off my lawn so I can get back to gaming! :D

To anyone that seriously asks this question of those younger than them, do they play or watch sports? Do they play cards, dominoes, or other 'board' games? All of these things are games and ones played on a screen are just a different format.

Too old for video games? Yeah I get a lot of shit like that, especially from my father. Not just about video games but about anime, music, whatever...

Here's the thing, though. I work with a bunch of "regular" late-20s/early-30s Joe Blow guys and I have to say most of their lives are boring as shit. They don't have hobbies, passions, collections, obsessions, etc... most of them wake up, go to work, go home and vegetate until they pass out. Having conversations with such people bores me to tears as they're not interested in anything. So yeah I'll take my "childish" hobbies over a life like that any day.

Hilarious way to put it.

Like my dad, I'm willing to be your dad had some "childish" hobbies or passions himself. Hehe.

I occasionally hear about people my age talking about how they "grew out of video games, so now all they play is CoD." Biggest load of bullshit I've heard in a while.

When I get criticized for playing video games (which doesn't happen often at all) I tell them that I play video games for the same reason other people read books and watch movies. I still read books and watch movies, but video games are definitely a favored past time.

I think I said this exact same thing in another thread...

Ditto for my father who is in his late 70s. He plays flash games on his Mac and casual games like Words with Friends.

My wife doesn't understand and she thinks it's all a waste of time. She wonders why I act like a kid. I don't play that much, about an hour a day max. Fortunately the kids share the interest so it's 3 vs 1. :)

Too old. LOL. I have been playing video games since my young niece got me to try playing Final Fantasy on the Super Nintendo. Loved it, and went on to other gems such as the Shining Force series on the Genesis. I'm now 60 years old!! I have a softmodded PS2, an old PS1, a nice PC connected to a large screen T.V. in my living room, and a Xbox 360. All are fed through a decent stereo system. There are two T.V.'s in the living room actually, one for my wife to watch television on and one for my gaming. We both have wireless headsets handy if needed. So, too old, I think not! Besides games help keep the old brain sharp. I still love SRPG's, RPG's, and some PC games, (just bought Warlock: Master of the Arcane.) I currently have a pretty good collection too, proudly displayed on the bookshelf. Your never too old to have fun I say!

Y'know, that's my exact stance. I know way too many people who are just empty; no interest in anything at all.
Besides, if being childish means having fun, I wanna be a child until I float on outta here~ Being bored sucks.
