What's your "main focus" when it comes to collecting?

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

The best games that are the most interesting to me for all my systems. I like to have every accessory that goes with said games. I'm mostly a US release guy. I've got stuff so I can import Japanese Wii, GC, N64, and Saturn games though.

The one exception is the NES. I'm collecting all the games there.

EDIT: I also try to get good arcade to console releases.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

I don't really have a focus, and typically go through periods where I collect for a console, then sell it all and move on to the next one that interests me. Right now I'm diving into Atari stuff as I've never really had the chance too, and 80s arcade games really appeal to me. Right now I have an Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar, Sega Genesis, and a PS3. I don't really feel the need to expand further than that right now. Most of my modern gaming gets done on PC anyways.

One benefit of the Atari stuff is other than the rare titles on 7800 and Jaguar, they tend to be dirt cheap.

Nice. I actually haven't done any atari gaming in my whole 22 years of living. The older atari stuff honestly just doesn't interest me that much although I can appreciate it. But if I ever got the chance I'd want to check out the Jaguar. Just because it's such an oddball. haha

For me its DS and PSP hands down. For the ds I focus on first party stuff that are great like sequals to some gba stuff, atlus games, pokemon (7 main series games and 6 worthy spinoff games for example). PSP i get decent rpgs and srpgs, some first party games. Square enix for both that have nothing to do with anything after final fantasy 6.

The thing is that my main focus of my collection are those things. I gor everything but a 2 or 3 games left to get. I'm pretty much done. My new focus is 3ds, and my continuing focus is limited/collectors edition games for games that i want for.the Xbox 360.

I pretty much just buy whatever I want to play at the moment and I'll build up a sizeable collection that way. But since I only have what I've played or am playing, I don't have as many as the guys who just buy all games for a system indiscriminately. I mean, complete libraries are awesome, but I don't have that kind of cash and I'd rather spend the time on gaming than buying.

But since the PSP games are so cheap right now I'm going to buy a ton of those to play later. So getting a library of games I like, especially RPGs, will take priority on the handheld side.

Go emulation to see what you are missing. The wrath of Yars Revenge and Demon Attack awaits.

I'm mostly targeting games I vividly remember owning, playing, renting or wanting a lot when I was younger. Rebuilding my Gamecube and DS collections to their former glories is especially top priority for me this year. GBA games too.
