Harvest Moon Series (I wanted to get the SNES cart a while back, but the two used game sources tell me that it's an OK game and not worth it unless I have a hard-on for the series. So how do the 3 GB/GBC carts stack up?)
Stupid series, stupid game imvho.
What...?

It's coming from the guy who hates Paper Mario and sees no appeal in Yoshi's Island.

Pay it no mind.

Tetris
Tennis
R-Type
Robocop
Game & Watch Gallery
Donkey Kong Land

These are all GB games I have in my collection that I've had literal hours of fun playing each, and can all be picked up extremely cheap.

I haven't played a Harvest Moon title (I'm a terrible retro gamer)

After I received news that I was probably going to Afghanistan again, I've been trying to assemble a decent Gameboy collection and temporarily foregoing the SNES collection for the time being
You would be fine with either the first or second Game Boy Harvest Moon. I have both and they're both quality games. Personally, I like the first one a little more. If you decide to get a Harvest Moon game be sure you get a color-version and that the battery still works so you can save your game.

& stay safe if you get sent out!

I hate Yoshi's Island, too. So incredibly cutesy looking it's sickening. And I hate escort missions, which the game is basically 1 giant escort mission.

I can understand the dislike from a graphical standpoint. Considering the direction Intendo was going in (ALA DKC series). It's weird seeing stages with a TON of chalk and felt drawings. IIRC, they did the cartoonish design out of spite because the developers kept kicking it back (using the DKC series as the bar to hit).
You have to love games that are spiteful.
I will disagree that it's an escort mission game.
I'm comparing it to Rocco's Modern Life: Spunky's Dangerous Day.
Yoshi can't die through conventional methods he only dies by pits and if Mario is away for too long, it's about as escort-ish as Sonic the Hedgehog.

You don't have to worry one bit about Tails in Sonic games, not the same at all. Tails is freaking invincible!
