Valid points. Truth be told, I have not turned on a Sony system in atleast a year. Mine SCPH1001 was actually modded by Snow Kitty.

If it weren't for NetFlix on the PS3, I could say the same thing at times.

I owned three ps3s, two that I flipped and one that I fixed and later sold. I just had no real desire to own one until Dragons Crown.

Its a myth. If I remember correctly the DAC (Asahi Kasei AK4309AVM) in it is legit but the overall quality is only good, not excellent. The same DAC is used in the 5501, but it does not have the direct outputs. However, you can mod either model to be a great mid 90s audiophile cd player. However for the cost of the components you can get an entry level modern audiophile cd player that will blow it out of the water.
