Guilty (gaming) pleasures

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Mozgus -- perhaps there was a thread similar to this one. Perhaps before I entered Racketboy, or during the period when I had no time for anything fun on the pooter.

Otherwise, besides the titles I've not played, I'm going to give credit to Perseid for mentioning the only game I loathe: Animal Crossing. Too many people, I think, are mentioning games their non-retro friends dislike. I'm hoping to see more titles that people of this site poo-poo. I think Racketboy is pretty close to the mark -- I haven't played any of the games he mentioned, but they simply sound awful ;)

Katamari Damacy

Guitar Hero and GH2

Elite Beat Agents - If people see/hear you play this, they think you're kind of insane. But the truth is it's insanely addictive.

Ridge Racer - Don't know if that counts or not, but it feels like a guilty pleasure to me. These games (the newer ones) haven't changed at all and are pretty much exactly like the first one for the arcade/PS1. They feel retro even with pumped up graphics and sound. But there's just something I love about them.

Is katamari a guilty pleasure type of game? I haven't played it in a while but I love those games. I see no shame in playing them.

BALLZ!!!!!!! on the genesis I like that game I think I got used to the controls and the camera and I still play with it.
Never even played it, so I can't hate it.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Yes I bought the gamecube, the game, a GBA and a link cable. Then I politly asked my buddy to buy a gba and a link cable. Alot of equipment to play a final fantasy game a poor one at that. It is pretty fun actually not the greatest action rpg...but you can play with a friend.

I think gaming in general has always been a guilty pleasure for me. For whatever reasons, throughout my life I've never found friends who are into gaming as much as I am. I'd always be the guy who wants to do some gaming while everybody else would want to do something else.

This is one of the reasons I love single player games more than multi-player. It's just sort of what I always ended up playing over the years and eventually I just came to love the single player experience more than anything else. While some people are into playing online deathmatches, I'm more into competing against myself in single player games for high ranks, percentage completion or just playing a game on higher difficulty settings.

Whenever I do find some friends who are into gaming, it's only the mainstream stuff like Halo, racing games, Grand Theft Auto, etc. Basically, people who play games, but aren't really gamers.

Gaming has always sort of been this thing that I love but don't really get to share with anyone.

Oh well(shrugs)

Since I don't want to create a new thread I'll post on this two year old one. Hamtaro games on the GBC & GBA. I just discovered them and I never would have guessed that Hamtaro could be so entertaining. Everything about them would be so humiliating if someone saw me playing it but they're just so enjoyable, I can't stop.
