SH1 makes sense since it's on PS1, PSN and there's also the remake of it if people choose to go that route on Wii, PS2 and PSP I believe.

I could go either way. I've played iD way more, though. Is Quake iD? Would you wanna do Quake? I've never played that. Or specifically, you want Wolf3D?

Racing - Sega Rally
Horror - D/D's Diner

Sega Rally was on Saturn, PC, N-Gage, GBA and PS2 according to wikipedia. D was on 3DO, Saturn, PS1 and PC, and is certainly something a little bit different for a horror game.

EDIT: BTW, I'm really against 4 Swords for party games, as the GBA port is multiplayer only meaning that you have to have local multiplayer available if you dont have a modern Nintendo handheld. Plus, the game is apprently being given out by Nintendo free until February, which is like 6 months before we'll be playing t for TR.

both of these are good ideas to me. Sega Rally especially since it was cross company (being on Sega, Nintendo and Sony consoles) as opposed to Ridge Racer which is Sony-only.

The Sports game to beat all other nominations: SkiFree.

for Feb/fighter i think i'm going to vote for the Fatal Fury Series. should be available in multiple consoles and handhelds.

also another vote for Sparksters for Sept. platformer.

does Tecmo World Wrestling count for sports?

January Adventure: Neutopia. I've never played any of these but seeing as how they are now on PSN as well as VC and TurboGrafx it would be a good chance to try it. I think it would be fun to see if we all looked at its merits regardless of its status as a LoZ clone.

February Fighter: Soulcalibur II. Chances are everyone owns a console that can play this game and I don't think a 3D fighter has been done for Together Retro.

March RPG: Legend of Dragoon. I'd like to give this one another shot becuase I don't think I gave it a fair chance when I first tried it. Too bad it's not on PSN.

April Racing: F-Zero X. I played this a little bit in college and thought it was a lot of fun but not as ball-bustingly difficult as GX. I'd pick it up on VC. I was considering a Burnout game as well but I think it would be cool to see how well 5th gen racers have aged.

May FPS: Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. It's been a long time since I've played a WWII shooter but I'm interested this game now since Classic Game Room gave it a very good review. The glut of WWII FPSs was the predecessor to gaming's current obsession with space marine/near future FPSs and I think it would be a good idea to look at this game without the WWII fatigue that was common when this game was released.

June Strategy: Europa Universalis II. I don't know if anyone's ever played this game but it is my favorite game ever. You can choose any country in the world starting in the 1400s and control them up until the early 1800s. It focuses more on grand strategy rather than military tactics and the choice of adhering to history or making something completely differnt offers tons of possibilities. It would be cool to see how different people take their different campaigns.

July Run 'n' Gun: Mega Man X3. It's on SNES, Saturn, and PS1 plus the compilations and my favorite Mega Man game. I've only ever played the SNES version and think it would be interesting to hear the upgraded version with the large changes to the music.

August Party Game: Worms II (and it's semi sequels). These have been released on numerous platforms and while it can entail a lot of strategy and skill, it still makes for a great party game when it's only people just having fun.

September Platformer: Super Mario Bros 2. I recently beat this on GBA and thought this would be a great addition with the many different versions on NES, Mario All Stars (SNES and Wii), GBA, and Virtual Console.

October Horror: The only horror-type game I've every played is RE4 so I have no ideas here.

November Puzzle: No thoughts here either.

December Shmup: I'd like to give a TurboGrafx shmup a shot as they are also on VC and we'll likely see more released for PSN soon.

For Sports I think maybe we could do the Mario Tennis games. I know they're not very realistic or anything, but there are mario tennis games on GBC, GBA, N64, Gamecube and Virtual Boy, plus there's a new one due out on 3DS next year.
