You know, I've seen some of your older posts about game difficulty and how you've beaten some tough games and I figured, wow, this guy must be adept if he's finished X and X - much better than I. Well, now I don't feel so bad, because I finished Jurassic Park as a young kid with no cheats at my disposal. Eat that!

Both of the SNES Jurassic Parks are tight, the second is a great game for co-op play.

Haha, well I think I got pretty close back in the day when I was a kid off and on. I remember it was extra awesome covering a lot of ground, like getting to the docks in the SE area I think, and then the T-Rex area was up in the NE corner I think? Either way I think I eventually got really confused with the first person area's and I remember having to do a lot of backtracking with those, like there's that one that needed night vision, etc... things like that.

My big complaint largely stems from the fact that the game, as big as it is, has no save points or passwords, and you get only a few lives. So it'd be like an all day project for sure if I ever attempted to finish it someday, lol. Sounds like you beat it legitimately too without emulation which is what I'd like to do as well sometime. One of those games I've had for years and haven't finished, things like that bug me!

You're right, the game required some serious layout memorization and wasn't easy to navigate. Wasn't an issue back then - the joys of having all the time in the world. Nowadays I just zoom through games utilizing fast forward and save states when I can. Shameful. Anyway, I liked that game, it was one of the creepiest games for the SNES.

So, other than EarthBound for me, other classics I dislike a lot are Final Fight 1 and 2. Both of them have a very limited selection of moves and are utterly repetitive/boring. I'm glad 3 added some special moves to the mix, but after playing actual GOOD beat 'em ups like Battle Circuit, SoR2, Guardian Heroes, etc., I can't go back to Final Fight 1 and 2. Too basic for me.

I find most Beat em ups rather boring if I play them by myself. They get way better with a friend, although it's hard for me to play any 8bit stuff that doesn't have an extra edge to it.

I tried playing it with someone on GGPO, I remember instantly being mad at only having one basic attack and no dash.

Let's see...good games I don't like.

Super Mario Bros 3 - Not sure why. It's not like I don't like the first one.
The Longest Journey - I haven't played this one enough to make a solid opinion of it. I was just turned off by the early puzzles.

Those two from the top of my head.

BTW, I think that the reason many people dislike Dragon's Lair is because they understand it as an action game and I don't think that's really true. Dragon's Lair is mainly a game about assesing your situation and thinking what the best move is. I think the scene with the spinning arms that knock you out portrays this very well.

Not to say you can't dislike it for whatever reason you fancy!

Never fancied the Zeldas or Metroids. But that might change if I decide on playing a Metroid FPS title.

There are more, and many I think are overrated that others love, but I don't necessarily not like them.

I honestly can't rate the Pokemon games, as I have never tried 1 second of ANY of them. I have absolute zero interest in the series. My only experience with it is with Pikachu and whatever other characters from Pokemon appeared in the Smash Bros. games.

Ya'll just ain't funky enough to get ToeJam & Earl. It's not slow, it's relaxed. It's not confusing, it's eccentric. If you're looking at the presents as "power ups", you're doing it wrong. It's not an action game.
You're lost on a strange planet, not everything you find is going to be beneficial. Figuring out what you have and how best to use it is all part of the fun.

Now for classic games that well and truly suck, I have to throw my hat in for Donkey Kong 64. Boring game, and really badly implemented. I wouldn't hate it as much if it was as well done technically as the Banjo games were. But even then all the game is is wandering around aimlessly looking for bananas.
