Mortal Kombat 9
Re: Mortal Kombat 9
Best ever? I don't know. Street fighter 4 and Virtua Fighter Evo/5 had more intuitive systems.

You don't need training mode in MvC3. Learn one combo with each character, rinse, repeat.

Re: Mortal Kombat 9
IMO Capcom games of this generation have great gameplay and solid options. However to the average gamer these games don't offer very much single player experience outside of arcade mode. MK has maybe the best story mode I've ever seen in a fighter and that is just one of the great single player modes.
My take is the Capcom games are arguably the best fighters especially for people who love the depth of a good fighting game. MK is a more complete video game for the average player that so far seems to have a nice fighting engine as well. This is coming from an ex-tournament player at Capcom games, I really like the single player in MK and envy it for a Street Fighter game.

I dunno, I think BlazBlue: Continuum Shift's training mode is easily the best yet (haven't played MK9).
The combos in that game aren't just obvious and interchangeable like in MvC3. Being able to watch the combo in action and switch the displayed input with the press of a button was a nice convenience too. There were also a pretty large number of challenges for each character. MvC3's training mode was pretty bad in my opinion.

Not by a long shot. Even most tournament players will tell you that SF4 and MvC3 are incredibly inferior fighting games. Capcom has lost their talent to make fighting games. It's really sad.

I haven't seen a fighter this complete since Soul Calibur for the DC.
Every bit as good too if you ask me. MK has really grown up with this entry.

Don't that just look oh so tasty?

I think this game is the best 3d fighting game since Soul Calibur II.

I wouldn't call this a 3D fighting game. Sure, models and backgrounds are rendered in 3D but gameplay is entirely 2D. There is no z-axis when fighting.

This. No Z-Axis = 2D.

Re: Mortal Kombat 9
So, just curious, how do you all think this ranks up with all of the fighters released in the past few years? (BlazBlue, MvC3, SSF4, Etc)
Personally this is far and away my favorite.
