Biggest "Oh #@$%!" Moments In Gaming

For a "Oh sh***" moment as in scary it was Silent Hill 3, there was moment where you enter a room with a mirrored wall at the back. I entered the room and started looking at my reflection and saw things behind me, when I turned around nothing was there. Then the walls started to have those Silent Hill veins and dripping blood and then I realized the door was gone...I had to put the controller down and walk away.

I think that's the best thing to do in the Silent Hill games. I'm sure playing the original Silent Hill affected me in some deep psychological way. Fuck everything about Silent Hill 2. Once was enough. Jesus.

My most recent 'oh shit' moment was picking up a 3DS for the first time before release and going "holy shit, it actually works". Just so you know, I have issues viewing 3D cinema, it doesn't quite work for me and gives me wicked motion sickness. I was worried that the 3DS would be the same, that's why I had to try one for myself before it launched.

My favourite oh shit moment was probably picking up the N64 controller for the first time on the day of launch and playing Mario 64. That same afternoon the N64 was sat under my TV with a brand new copy of Mario 64 in it. Absolutely amazing. I feel sorry for anybody getting into gaming these days. They will never ever have that first experience of true revolutionary 3D freedom in a game. They all take it for granted now. Poor souls.

Dude, I remember that. That game had quite a few oh shit moments. Remember that mannequin thing? All of the Silent Hill games are full of crazy moments actually.

Thought of a couple others
-The world getting destroyed in FF6 and your party getting broken up.
-That snowman monster from Ski Free charging you. That thing is a beast, used to actually scare me as a kid.
-The final boss in Duke Nukem 3D. For some reason that boss is like the most imposing enemy ever to me.

Duke Nukem 3D had some really good enemy design overall, come to think of it.

That was definitely a good silent hill moment. I had to put the game down as well just so I could think again. Another one I remember from 3 was inside the stupid haunted house.

Before this game even got to the title screen, it had already jellified my brain and rolled up my heart. Oh shit son, things are never gonna be the same:

I need to play the Silent Hill series, only completed 4 and that's probably the least acclaimed one! Pretty messed up though.

Condemned 2 - that section in the log cabin whereby a giant wolf beast thing chases you through corridors. Playing this with a friend at 1am in the dark was awesome but also horrible!

Fallout 3 - blowing up Megaton, looked so real it made me think OH SHIT in a bad way.

Mortal Kombat 4 - seeing the fatalities in what at the time were good graphics I thought wow I need to check this game out

Shenmue - that bar fight

Heavy Rain - realising you could kill characters and the story would just carry on!

Resident Evil 2 - in the gun shop and the zombies come through the window!!!!

And my biggest "Oh shit" moment was finding out Samus was a chick. My Uncle originally told me that but I didn't believe him until got the best ending on Super Metroid.

Bioshock, Fort Frolics power to the people machine. It was just like in the Dr Who episode Blink. Scared the shit out of me then, scares the shit out of me now.
