One thing I feel good about is that recycling aluminum cans is worth it (in the video it's the only material favorably referred to). I remember when I was a kid I saved up money from finding and recycling cans to purchase my NESNiode wrote:It's the whole recycling shit that pisses me off. Depends on the recycling, and energy cost is not the only important variable! An obvious one would be non-renewable resources - those could probably fall in a case where they should be recycled to make it last longer, even if there is a higher energy cost.Niode wrote: The whole green movement pisses me off. It's not so much the 'save the planet' stuff. I can totally get behind clean renewable energy. Only a complete fucking moron would be against clean renewable energy. The problem is that soon other publishers are soon to follow.swiftzx wrote:People, this is EA and Ubisoft we're talking about...
Damn straight. Except for the dumping fluids. I just throw trash out my car window.MrPopo wrote:I really find the whole "we're green!" initiative to be bullshit. Just say you want to save money or something. Whenever a company claims they're trying to be green I dump engine fluids in the streams to compensate.

Next step with be no longer having discs in the game cases. Our hobby of video game collecting is on its way out

Honestly, am I the only one that does not give a shit? reading the manual is practically useless by today's standards, since the instructions are "in-game" via tutorial.

I don't either. Manuals are useless, they only add weight to the box. No one ever looks at them.TheyCallMeTheSwede wrote:Honestly, am I the only one that does not give a shit? reading the manual is practically useless by today's standards, since the instructions are "in-game" via tutorial.
Re: Ubisoft and EA games will no longer have manuals
I've always loved full boxed product manuals depending on the console of course.
Nintendo Manuals have always been in full colour up until recently with the Wii.
Plus they used to give back story and instructions and tips on how to play.
I really hate these days games make you go through a huge long ass tutorial before you get to play anything.
All the tutorial stuff used to be in the manual back in the day where it belongs IMO
Plus people that never read the manual often used to lose a lot of back story and secrets.
I think it was with Grandia on the PS1 you could play the whole game with just the manual as it included maps of all the locations.
I have the manual to Super Mario Bros 1 boxed and even that contained some tips an tricks on some techniques of how to win at the game.
Some people don't care about manuals but for me they definitely add value to the overall product.

I always read the manual before I dive in to a game. Sure, I'll skim parts I already know, but I like seeing a good explanation of the in game systems. I'd much rather get rid of in-game tutorials (especially the unskippable kind) and get everything from the manual.

Re: Ubisoft and EA games will no longer have manuals
Starting with the release of Fight Night Champions this month EA Sports has made the decision to no longer include paper manuals inside of their boxed games. With the inclusion of in-game tutorials EA feels that paper manuals aren't necessary and that it is environmentally friends to no longer produce them. Instead, gamers may get a digital manual if they want one. EA Sports is following a trend started by Ubisoft last year in order to cut costs.
