I couldn't see it being as powerful or emotional going the quick route just to simply see the alternate routes of the game.
I understand and respect your dislike, but I'm still glad the option is there and I think I will use it. As mentioned above, I do not have so much time as I would like (who does) and I want to play many other games as well... I think playing in this "What if" mode beats going to some website and read about the consequences of the other choices, which might be what I would do.

I don't know how much the game branches out, but how many replays in total would you have to put in to see ALL the consequences? I read they all refocus on the same ending. I played Knight of Lodis twice in a row and do not regret it at all (to get both endings), but I doubt I'd want to do it more than say 3 times and I'd still like to know about some of the consequences anyway.

I'm not quite sure to be honest, there can be some major consequences that change characters actions (joining you, or not at all and doing other things), but as for the main story paths there's only three I believe: Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic. Supposedly they're quite different throughout Chapter 2-3, but they all kind of come back together into Chapter 4 from what I've heard, you'll just see some minor differences off and on at that point.

Anyways, thought you guys might appreciate some of these extras I got from a friend recently, been talking about this game lately a lot and he shared some of this stuff.

Here is a interview with creator Matsuno from 1995, some really cool insightful stuff and there wasn't any major spoilers or anything, so no worries then: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/999440-t ... r/57892950

Lots of interesting stuff about Matsuno himself, like him dropping out of college, him majoring in Foreign Policy made me laugh a bit because it makes so much sense (his games having such political intrigue and such).

Sounds like Matsuno had much bigger plans for Chapter 4 and wanted the game to branch off even more than it does at times.

Then there's just this goofy picture, Matsuno on the left and FF creator Sakaguchi on the right.

This is brand new, they apparently got together for lunch or something and exchanged games, Sakaguchi gave Matsuno the Last Story and Matsuno gives Sakaguchi the TO Remake. Haha, neat.

My copy just arrived today, and I didn't realize it'd come with a bonus pack of Tarot cards using the illustrations from in-game (at least most of them are from Ogre Battle, I assume some were updated in alter games).

I just ordered mine Friday from Amazon. Got here today. I was really surprised that they came with the tarot cards as I (obviously) didn't preorder and it has been many months since the game's release. If you've held out until now and really want the tarot cards you might want to take a shot ordering from Amazon. Just thought I'd give the heads up! Obviously there's no guarantee you'll get them, but worst case scenario you get an amazing game for 20 bucks!

Rather than creating a new thread to explain how much I currently suck at this game, I thought I'd come in here to ask for some help/advice.

I am at the Hanging Gardens (called Eden in the original game, apparently) and I have stocked up on Resurrection Arcana, Blessing Stones, Mending Seeds, etc. - all the items that I've found to helpful so far through the last chapter of the game.

They don't do shit to help me win the first battle of the Hanging Gardens.

I am getting soundly rocked - not quickly and not powerfully, but slowly and by degrees. I've tried the first battle 3-4 times, sinking an hour or two into each attempt only to take out 3-4 of the enemy forces before succumbing to their attacks. Denam is at level 20 and my main "crew" is all around Level 18-20. By in large I have the best weapons I can buy and the best skills I can equip for my level. Is this too low to attempt these final battles? I also haven't done anything with the class system to upgrade my characters/change their classes - is it imperative that i do so? I made it this far, so I am not horrible at the game, but I haven't felt the need to do any grinding or tinkering with class marks/recruiting members/buying+selling members, etc. so far. Is it time to do all this stuff, or is it too late since I haven't done it all along? I do have a pre-hanging gardens save I can go back to.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't remember making this thread. Which is funny because I noticed that I said I didn't play the PS1 game in the first thread. I had played it, briefly, but never bought a copy for myself. But that's neither here nor there. Wish I could help you, dsh, but you are way further in the game than me. I didn't realize it was actually so long!
