No. Just play them. Then when EP 3 comes out, Play HL2, EP 1, and EP 2 again. That's what I've been doing each time one comes out.

Wow. You're right. I beat Lost Coast in like 15-20 minutes.

First - I new this thread existed and didn't want to make a new one.

Second - SPOILERS BELOW!

Just beat Episode 2. I did it in succession. Half Life 2, Ep.1, Ep2. Still have never played Half Life 1. Gotta do that next.

So still no word on Episode 3... Even though I've beaten the last 3 series installments I've got some stupid questions and some good comments I'm sure people will be able to weigh in on.

There's a lot of talk about the Gman. Is Gman a reference to Gordon Freeman, or is the Gman the guy in the suit that shows up every now and again. You know the guy who I guess rescues you from the citadel at the end of HL2, or teleports you out. Is this guy in HL1? I gotta say that throughout HL2 I saw this guy walking around the game with a briefcase. I'd even take shots at him but nothing. He'd just walk out of my sight. I'd only catch glimpses of him when I looked between train cars, or ran to the corner of maps that had gaps I could see through. In Ep. 2 I saw him on the bridge where you get the car but I had to zoom in. Right when you first can see the bridge and the alien tells you to look at the bridge to see the car you need to recover. The man is walking and then is outta sight. You get like 3 seconds to view him. I'm sure there were many other places I didn't see him in the games. Certainly a great touch by Valve.

I'm excited for more Magnuson and other scientists in HL1. I hear it's the longest of the games so far, can anyone confirm?

Also, and here's the clincher. I'll be playing on either xbox or ps2. Probably ps2. I did HL2 and the two Episodes on the Orange Box for PS3. Is HL1 really going to be terrible on a PS2?

I guess this wasn't as long of a post as I thought. I gotta say though Valve is amazing. I'm sure Episode 3 will be worth the wait.

G-Man is in fact referring to the character in a suit.

G-Man = Government Man
Is this guy in HL1?
Yep, and to prevent spoilers, he does something very crucial to the plot.

He's invincible.

I haven't played it, but Half-Life is cheap in box (and there's often sales for it on Steam) and the game has low PC requirements so I'd just stick with the Windows version.

Knowing Valve, it will be.

You should also know that there is Half Life: Source, which is an updated version of the original Half Life that has better graphics.

It's not really that much better.

Looks like Black Mesa is dead in the water. Is HL1 better on the Dreamcast (beta), PS2 or the Source version?

Thanks JT and GSZX1337! I'm a console man so I'll be on PS2 and suffer the rendered graphics.

Thank you very much for all the answered questions!

Halflife on the PS2 is a soso port - it has some framerate problems but is worthwhile (unlike the Dreamcast version). The very important part of it is Decay - a side story where you play as the other two scientist in HEV Suits - Gina Cross and Collete Green, and it is Coop.

I think at this point Gabe and his cronies (or developers, replace according to your bias) are struggling to tie up all the loose ends created by the canonical mess that is the Half-Life franchise. Don't get me wrong I love HL1+2 but unless Gabe is shooting for a world record in cliffhangers I don't think all this fanfare is warranted. If Ep 3 comes fine if not the world will still be here.
