I don't see why people have a problem with Nintendo franchises. They are still good.
And it's not like the competition is any better. There have been how many Halo's now? Oh and do we really need more than 1 real car simulator per generation Sony?
It seems like Nintendo goes with having a couple of main IPs that have unique ideas and different gameplay all the time, and the other companies go with having a bunch of IPs that are all almost the same.
Yet, Nintendo is criticized for not coming up with anything new.

You dreamed of playing NES games online when you were a kid? Unless you grew up on the campus of MIT, DARPA, or NASA's Ames research center I find this claim hard to believe.
You should have patented that idea buddy; you'd be a millionaire.
I dunno, the NES was still getting new titles released into the mid-90s, so it's possible that was the system he was still playing around 95/96.
Or maybe he's like 20 and was into retro games when he was 10 around 2000.
The genesis actually had some sort of modem released for it in the early 90s.

Saying that their competitors aren't doing any better doesn't excuse the fact that Nintendo's new franchises are simply uninteresting. What Nintendo is doing now can't hold a candle to what they were doing as recently as a decade ago. They simply aren't being bold with their franchises as they could be.
(Of course there are always exceptions, the new Kirby seems to be a pretty bold twist on the franchise. Now if only they'd shake up Zelda in the same way...)

Twisting someone's words is fun, isn't it? You know damn well what I was saying.
Then say it, what you meant to say was:
All of this wii shit is unoriginal and some stupid party game with Wii in front of it. Sure it may be fun to casual players, however it isn't to me. Back when nintendo was GOOD they released games like Mario, which was the same game over and over and over, BUT I LIKE THAT.
It is flabbergasts me when people think that what they are doing now is different than 20 years ago. They are doing they same thing they always have, the only difference is that they aren't establishing new Ips that you like.

Do I even need to respond to this? You're intentionally putting words in my mouth. Quit being so pissy.
I don't like nintendo's new IPs this gen and I think many current installments of their existing IPs lack the type of bold vision that I feel we should expect from the company. How much clearer can I make this? It's got nothing to do with nostalgia goggles and even less to do with throwing a fit over party games.

Did you miss this? Pikmin was one of those exceptions. It was a fantastic game. How many of their new IPs can match that in terms of originality or memorability?
Now I didn't say they were "so terrible that they shouldn't bear the Nintendo name". Even the new installments that are solid games on their own still feel stagnant and unessential when taken in the context of their respective series'.
I could maybe agree with Mario Galaxy being an example of Nintendo still being what I expect, but the new Smash Bros, Zelda, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart (which honestly felt like a bit of a step backwards after Double Dash) are examples of what I feel are series' in stagnation. A stagnant series isn't exactly terrible or anything, but we can (and I think should) expect a bit more. The word "rehash" has a lot more negative connotations than I am intending, but that's about the closest to how I feel about a lot of them.
Because this is all opinionated, it's for us to agree.

So.. It shouldn't be made from a company like nintendo. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM What could that also be said as?
