Japanese used game stuff is always like that. I've bought many games that were described as 'good' and they looked minty to me and miles better than what most tools on ebay call 'mint'. Heck, I bought a 'junk' lot of loose MD carts before that looked better than most stuff described as 'in good shape' by US sellers.dedalusdedalus wrote:I'm not only impressed by the breadth, but also the quality of the merchandise. I think they kind of make up for it by everything else being crazy expensive. I'd rather pay $400 for an AES (or pay extra to import one), and then be able to go down the street and get fruit in season for $0.99 - $1.50 per pound.nightwalker wrote:$65 for a neo geo aes with 3 games......![]()

Dont know about the food? Because when I went I ate like in a restaurant, fast foods, etc. and when your a tourist you dont see food expenses. But can you elaborate a bit more on that what you said about the .99 cents?

Fruit, for example, is very expensive in Japan. I don't know exact prices, but this is just what my brother who lives over there tells me.nightwalker wrote:Dont know about the food? Over here in the U.S., if I'm willing to shop around, I can usually find fruit in season for around a dollar or two a pound, depending on what it is. During the fall, there are usually a few apple varieties that are only $0.99 a pound. I've seen peaches in early summer as low as $0.79. Bananas are usually between $0.50 and $0.80 per pound (though I know bananas are actually an herb).
It was really just a discussion about high cost of living. Japan's average cost of living is higher than it is here. You can get cheap games, but you also have to pay more for normal required expenses like food.
I'm speaking in general terms, though. Cost of living does vary a lot depending on location. New York City is an expensive place to live. I don't know about Puerto Rico.

Well, have fun with your fruit. I will buy processed food and play video games.

Oh, I'll be playing video games as well.pepharytheworm wrote:Well, have fun with your fruit. I will buy processed food and play video games.
But since you're in Atlanta, I will mention that Grand Mart has locations in Smyrna, Norcross, and Morrow. They're an international supermarket with lots of cool stuff and a great (and cheap) produce section.

Re: A Walkthru of Japanese Game Shops
Oh I didnt knew that about the cost of produce in japan. The next time I visit or call my friend this night Ill ask him. And for Puerto Rico its pretty much the same as in the US the only diference is people plant more things for example at my house I got a guava tree, grapefruit, acerola (puertorican sour fruit), lemon and of course plantain.
But as to the cost of living is kinda like you said .97 pound for beef or chicken. But on the electronic side we paid an extra 6.6% tax that they call (arbitrio) thats for getting stuff from US to here and we also dont get netflix instant streamin but we do get the dvds by mail lol.

I have to disagree with this one. I don't see any difference in prices when I buy fruits or veggies in either Japan or USA.
Re: A Walkthru of Japanese Game Shops
I'm just going by what my brother tells me. He lives in Shima, Mie Prefecture. Maybe things are different where you are. Or maybe y'all don't get the in-season discounts that we get over here. He only said that about fruit, though. He said that vegetables are more reasonably priced.hashiriya1 wrote: I have to disagree with this one.
