I really like the floating shelves look. I wish I could do that to my apartment but my walls are made of balsa wood.

Re: Diesel_Dan's Game Room
i like how it set up too!!!! i wish mine was as nice. i display my consoles except for 8 of them so i have 8 on display and 8 put away in storage (i moved to a smaller place and dont have room for my arcade machine and all my other stuff) so basically mine is on a computer corner desk which has a top shelf and i have 7 of my 8 consoles on it
i have my tv where the computer monitor should be there is 2, 30 piece cd slots where i keep my dreamcast games so thats 60 dc games
on the left side is a pocket that used to have shelves in iti removed them and i keep my 150 ps1 games there on the right side pocket i have removed the backing and keep my pc monitor there.
on the lower left side is another pocket where i keep my gamecube games (on top shelf)
along with my gba, gb, gbc games and ngpc games. the next shelf down holds 150 ps2 games and the lower shelf holds my ps3 games and marvel vs capcom fighting stick (arcade stick is what i call them).
then in the other corner i have a 32" sharp tv on a bureau where my 5200 is and in the drawers i keep my 200 nes games (bottom 2) sega saturn (middle 1) 5200 games my atari 2600 games and controllers and lightguns. in my closet i keep all my arcade sticks for my other systems since every systemi have has 2. i also keep all my steering wheels in there i think i have 5 of them for various systems.
my room looks plain because alot of stuff is hidden but i also have a futon couch in here it works well for 4 people but i only bring 1 friend over for gaming at a time.
but sorry for the hijack. great looking troom! and nice collection i might add!!! i see some stuff i wished i had

I love the floating shelf look too- But how'd you get them to support that weight? I didn't have much luck with mine, even had 2 studs supporting it. I ended up putting a support underneath it, which pretty much killed the point of having it.Upsidedown Fuji wrote:I really like the floating shelves look. Re: Diesel_Dan's Game Room
really awesome setup. that's the type of game room that i hope to have when i own my own place. still while nice, the floating shelves scare me senseless, i would be so afraid of the systems falling. but that's probably only due to my super cautious nature and the tendency for me to always think of the worst possible situation.

No worries--let's see some pictures! I'd be curious to see who has the most gaming stuff packed into the smallest amount of space!darthbluntedone wrote: but sorry for the hijack. great looking troom! and nice collection i might add!!! i see some stuff i wished i had
Drywall anchors and hope. Actually, the key to getting those floating shelves looking right are the center screws. I think there's five holding up each shelf and anything that isn't in a stud is supported by a 75 lb. anchor. And yes, there was a lot of pleading, threatening, and praying done before I was satisfied that the shelves weren't going anywhere.shallowgamer wrote:I love the floating shelf look too- But how'd you get them to support that weight?

I must be doing something right if the Mod likes my room! I feel like I need to go vacuum and dust now.Ack wrote:Impressive, very clean, very functional. I definitely think it's nicely done. Kudos sir.

Very Clean. You've got plenty of consoles; now it's time to expand your games.
