Any Boardgame fans?
Re: Any Boardgame fans?
honestly board games has been one thing that i desperately want to join in (im talking along the lines of the rpg paper and pen board games) but due to lack of people who are actually interested in this with me (i think me would be one and that's it lol) i can't play these. im hoping in college i can find a group to join in with, but ill have to wait and see. that dune game really interests me since i enjoy the movie and i recently started reading the book and im enjoying that very much as well. the only thing i was ever able to get into was TCG's because i had a few friends who enjoyed those for a small time.

While not really a board game, I've been having a ton of fun lately with Munchkin and the expansions. I think a big selling point was how easy it was to pick up and convey to others, and the minimal amount of setup and game time. It keeps things moving at a good clip unlike my other fav board game, Zombies!, which takes hours.

I like board games, of most any type. I play the mainstream ones you can buy at Walmart, and the older wargames from the 70's and 80's. What I don't like are board games on the computer or game console, I much prefer to play it on a real board.

Re: Any Boardgame fans?
My wife has a really good friend that's a board game fan, and he's gotten her going to a weekly session of games every Monday after work. I've joined in twice now, including an eight hour board game party last Saturday. I have very little experience outside of the typical Parker Brothers fare, but I enjoyed a four hour game of seven player Power Grid and got to try my hand at Dominion a few times, among other games. I'm not a total convert yet, but I may become one.

And this is a point I hadn't even thought of. Even if I'm not yet a convert, I'd love to have more activities to do with my wife at home. I usually associate board games with larger groups and I don't often have a call for much more than two people unless it involves children, though a friend of mine who's down on his luck will be staying with us soon. Any recommendation for good two or three player games? Edit: Recommendations besides the ones JT mentioned in the very post I quoted.J T wrote:Unlike videogames, my wife actually enjoys board games...

My all time favorite board game would have to be Othello.
Other than that, I play checkers, chess, and monopoly...
