I'm partially irked by that, but I also understand that not everyone wants to also hook up the multiple switch boxes you need to hook up 10 consoles at once (or run the RF daisy chain).fast wrote:I dont mind that actually, aslong as it is kept to a minium. Typically I dont like having all of my consoles on display or hooked up, but that is so I will focus on one or another and not get spread to thin. So I can understand if others have a similar viewpoint. But I can agree, having 10 consoles under the tv and none of them hooked up irks me.

Yeah, I've got 3 televisions and six consoles hooked through them, and some of them just do not like certain televisions so I'm forced to hook them through various means, so my N64 and my PS2 end up wanting to be hooked up the same way. As a result, my N64 doesn't get hooked up very often.
Re: Whose game room makes you jealous?
That is the problem. When you can only hook up x amount of systems due to the plugs and swtichboxes available... how do you choose? It is why backwards compatiblity and softmods/emulation is so important.Ack wrote:Yeah, I've got 3 televisions and six consoles hooked through them, and some of them just do not like certain televisions so I'm forced to hook them through various means, so my N64 and my PS2 end up wanting to be hooked up the same way. I have a slew of nintendo systems. Only thing plugged in is the n64 because you can not emulate the feel of that fucked up controller and the wii. Running on the wii is every nes, snes, gb, gbc, gba game. The wii coupled with the classic controller/super fami controller makes the emulation on these guys perfect.
So... the other systems go on the retirement shelf.
the hidden game room is fantastic. It is something i hope to build soon. It isn't really something that i can do in a place i'm renting. It is first on the list of projects after i've bought a place.fast wrote:And I guess I should describe the hidden game room. Any room where you enter and you think it is just a standard den or study, but is really the game room is just something cool to me. Sadly this means the collection is not typically on display. But arcade controllers built into coffee tables, and pcs built into old radios, are just fascinating to me.
Re: Whose game room makes you jealous?
Fortunately I've got crt tv loaded with inputs. It's got 3 a/v inputs and the typical antenna input. Then I've got one 4 way selector box. With the antenna systems you can just run them all into eachother so I've got my cdx and master system going in there. Dreamcast/Retro Duo/PS2/N64 into the box, and saturn and nes into the two remaining tv inputs. I don't see many crts with that many inputs. And if I do one set is always right on front of the tv. . . which is ok for swapping a video camera or something in and out but not if you're keeping something permanantly hooked up

I have a switch box on my s-video and composite inputs, allowing about 8 systems there, and another on component. I have another tv tated for a PS2 (accompanied by a VGA monitor for games that support progressive scan), and a VGA monitor dedicated to an extra dreamcast.
its a bit much but I like it an the wiring is done neatly enough.
some of the rooms here are just downright amazing. wow.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.
Re: Whose game room makes you jealous?
I'm jealous of everyone's game rooms right now because I don't have one at the moment. It's a work in progress and most of my stuff is packed away.
I do want to say that this subforum is my favorite on the site. The first time I found this place I spent a couple hours just looking at all the different game rooms. From the big to the small each is unique and full of good ideas. I will say that any of the rooms on here appeal more to me than the one some posted with the guy with all the games. To me a game room doesn't have to have a million games, it just has to be a fun place to hang out and get away from things, whatever that may be.

In my opinion "Majors" on this board has some of the coolest stuff. His arcade cabinet and game list is nearly perfect if you ask me. Great selection. I think he has a link in his sig.
good post JT.

Im surprised nobody mentioned James Rolfes massive collection. I know some of us may not like the AVGN, but there's no denying he has a very nice game room. Gives off a real gaming vibe, like the type of place i played snes with my friends way back in the day.
Also, after seeing that first link. Fuck Maximus. No really, that's just not fair at ALL. A COMPLETE NTSC COLLECTION OF NES SNES AND N64 WTFWWTFTWTFWTFTF!!!!11!!!!!

Re: Whose game room makes you jealous?
Good point. The recent Bugs Bunny video gave a better view of the scope of his collection. I was kinda worried for some of the games and such as they flailed around in that video.AwesomeMonstar wrote:Im surprised nobody mentioned James Rolfes massive collection. The worst was when he destroyed the SNES in the SMB3 review. I practically cried.Hobie-wan wrote:I was kinda worried for some of the games and such as they flailed around in that video.
