I has seen more and more kids get into retro games everyday. I wasnt born in the 70's but I have an atari 2600. I have seen more adults saying they cant go back even to ps2.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.
Re: Do you worry for the newer gamers?
I asked my youngest brother the other day if he wanted to play Batman: Arkham Asylum. He replied "Why? You just go from room to room beating people up over and over again. It's repetitive and boring." The guy had been born in the early 90s, only getting into games after the 2D beat 'em up had mostly signed off. I was shocked, immediately trying to explain why I enjoyed that repetitive style, but to no avail.
And yet, he enjoys playing the Halo games...

Indeed we are. Then again, people have compared me to an old man since I was 8.
Haha. So have I. I'm told I'm a very cynical, grumpy person.

people still listen to, perform, and teach classical music. Don't worry true classic entertainment will survive the test of time. If it does not maybe it really wasn't all that special?
I like old games
I like new games
I like games
I like new games

Despite what I said earlier, I am doing my part to change this. I have successfully entertained a bunch of 18 year old Halo junkies with older titles with little effort. It is just a game of social engineering and playing to the crowd. Let me say, Bomberman and Bangai-O are godsends for this.
Also I have started one of my two year old nieces on the right path. She got her taste of the Atari a couple weeks ago. She moved the block in Adventure all around the main room. Until she got bored and decided to go play with something else that lights up.

I think every non-3D system is going to be forgotten by all the snot nosed 10 year olds of today. And it worries me. Sure, there's a virtual console. But can't you hear your neighbor kid saying "These look like crap" Just because you can see the polygons? What can we do?
My first video game system was the N 64....But i love DOOM and i like Call of Duty. Is there something wrong with the fact that i play Phantasy Star 1 and halo 3 equally. Anyone who is serious about gaming will find good games. Anybody who doesn't think that modern warfare is a soilid game is just mad at the rise in FPS lately, and the idiots who play them. People who want good games will find them. I don't feel like i missed out on anything by being born in 93'

Edit: Anybody who says the halo games are garbage are fooling themselves. The first game was groundbreaking. After that, i admit the solo player went downhill. I don't play games for multiplayer 99% of the time.
In reality it might be better to be young. Younger people can appreciate modern games and retro games equally. I Agree that retro games are generally awesome and modern games are not nearly as good. I do think that there is allot of really good modern games that are worth playing though.

I won't say that it's garbage because comparatively there are obviously a lot worse games out there. That said, it just doesn't feel as good as other shooters. The interesting thing is that my wife and I both got into shooters at the same time (actually with Resistance) and have since loved playing through Left 4 Dead as well. When we played Halo 3 we both remarked that it just wasn't that much fun. I see the potential but when it all comes together it just doesn't click for me (or her). Maybe we're just missing something that a huge group of people obviously finds enjoyable about the series.
Oh, I should note that I did actually enjoy one other FPS before getting into these with my wife, and that was Thief.

Also, don't forget virtual console, that, more than likely, will get some kids into the old school.
