We definitely got screwed in the US. Real games, pins, badges, music cds, whatever that famicom is, and point cards! I'm glad I already have that Ball game & watch. It's the only really quality item they gave out as a platinum prize so I've kept that one.
I am interested in the Game Watch! Anyone want to sell or trade one?

Pretty sure the screen is region free, so either side of the water. :D

I settled on what I got. Sure that saying usually is true about the greener grass, but I think it's a large quantifiable agreement of opinion the Japanese got the best run of it for their points. Gold Mario trophies, plushies, game sound tracks, and other solid good quality tangibles including even some solid DS games. The EU region fared still a little better than us as they got a few other items Japan had we got hosed out of. The best the US really ever was given I think would be the G&W being #1 and after that the micro sized G&W DS packages with just 2 games a piece. After that you're just into bag, t-shirt, paper stuffs, and little else excluding the elite status stuff.

I would have gone after that mario sound track, or a few of the other items Japan got if they were a choice. The only reason I even bothered in the last coins calendar year bothered to register anything at all was just because that Luigi trophy popped up so I just pushed all I had into it.

How many coins was that Luigi's Mansion figure? Something like 1200 right?

I personally like what the US has to offer right now. Its no physical 1 off game release but the amount of games far surpases the other countries.

Since Doc Louis' Punch-out is WiiWare, I can't imagine it's compatible to be downloaded on the WiiU in Wii Mode, right? (unlike their other Wii rewards)

Highest item ever -- 1500 coins. I hadn't bought anything in over a year because it was all crappy paper craft, hanafuda cards, shoe laces, and that terrible pikmin 3 bag people said was badly made. I was going to lose about 40% of my total coins so I went in on it when it showed up. I've got it on a little shelf over my tv next to the SMB platinum trophy.

Oh wow, that was a high ticket item. I guess now that I think about it there has been a reason why I've always gone for the posters in recent years. In the past I was able to get the Ball Game and Watch and Game and Watch DS Collection #1 but thats about it besides the Platinum rewards and posters. Oh well I can't complain, a few of them are things I still enjoy everyday.

Reminds me that I need to try to get that Smash Bros v2 Poster set. I think I'd put up the Duck Hunt or Shulk poster...

I agree. There's a pretty decent assortment of stuff up right now, digital and physical, to choose from. Considering what they've had up for the last year, I was actually surprised when I saw everything. Sure, I would have liked to see something along the lines of the pin set, the soundtracks and the games that are being offered elsewhere, but all-in-all I think we got a pretty good deal with this closeout.

I thought all Wii specific Wiiware and Virtual Console works on the WiiU in the Wii mode; just have to use the Wii specific controls instead of the WiiU controllers.

Speaking as someone from the UK, I happen to think our selection is shit. I'd much rather have the digital offers you guys have right now - particularly stuff like Doc Louis' Punch Out, which has never been given a PAL release.

I have 7850 stars waiting to be used, but I don't fancy a crappy sleep set or bag and I already have the Game & Watch.
Is the download Doc Louis exclusive level really worth getting? The Wii already has Punch Out with many other boxers as a retail disc game.

I think the UK got the best option for the Download games, the Nintendo Point Cards! This allows ANY game at the Nintendo Shop to be redeemed. I don't understand why PAL members are complaining on lack of DLC other then not getting the very few Club Nintendo exclusive DL games. On top of that, there are more physical prizes due to no DL listed up front. Not sure if the Stars vs Point Cards vs Coins equals to a fair exchange of the download games though.

Gaaah I hope if the Platinum and Gold is DL games only, Nintendo at least should allow a Wii game as well as the announced 3DS and WiiU downloads. If not an exclusive Club Nintendo Game then why not the Points Card instead to allow any game selection of a given value? The digital stock on the shelves certainly will not get used up and a better marketing tally will result, an automatic survey of sorts.

Where did you get the frames? I have scads of posters from Club Nintendo, but they're all bizarre sizes that I can never find frames for...and not going to pay oodles of money for custom framing on "free" posters. Yours looks great!

Point Cards are crazy expensive. 1000 nintendo points costs 4000 stars, which is the equivalent of 16 Wii U points cards. That's £7 of credit.

The exchange rates of the digital games in the US are much better. SNES and GBA games on Wii U cost £5.49- £6.29 over here and it costs the equivalent of about 4 registered Wii U games in the US in coins - that's practically 4 times the exchange rate!

The Wonderful 101, Mario 3D Land, Kid Icarus Uprising & Game & Wario are available for 600-700 coins - thats about 12-14 Nintendo published Wii U games worth of coins for games that costs £20-40 here. We can't even get £7 worth of points for a non-current console with the same amount.

And on Doc Louis' Punch Out - sure, I can play Punch Out on Wii anyway, but it's an exclusive piece of content not available anywhere else - that won't be (legally) available anywhere else in future either most likely. As a punch-out fan I feel I'd be crazy to miss it.
