If I'm dropping coin, Batman better have a giant penny and a T-Rex in his cave. THE UNTOLD LEGEND OF BATMAN is my kind of Batman.
DKR the movie is a faithful and real well done version of Frank Miller's famous and highly praised Dark Knight Returns. It's worth the coin.

A movie that would have the giant penny would be Justice League Doom. The premise is the league of doom hacks into the bat-computer and steal the files he has to take down every league member. In the end Batman saves the day.

If tippy enjoyed the book, it's worth watching. If you love the book it's worth owning. They put a lot of detail and don't skip much, hence the reason DKR is a two part movie.

I personally enjoyed it more than the graphic novel.

I recommend Doom as well. It's based on the the JLA: Tower of Babel comics, and the alterations were minor (mostly with some of the contingency plans Batman had for specific leaguers, particularly with Superman), but they all achieved the same goal and they were all equally creative. The end was the best part, when the League finally had enough of Batman's BS and had to vote on whether he stays or not. Batman and Superman's specific reactions (as well as which League members voted for Batman to stay) were nicely done.

...although Doom wasn't able to adapt one of the repercussions of the storyline as it happened outside of the story arc - it's what prompted Batman to reveal his identity to the entire League instead of just a couple of key members, just to show that he trusts them.

I think a friend recommended this to me, I looked up a trailer but the images/graphics/cartoons looked kind of "meh" . I was afraid its a low budget attempt to make a buck so I didn't watch it.
