Mystery Street

This is a low-budget police procedural that serves as a huge advertisement for Harvard University and stars the man with the greatest name ever, Ricardo Montalban. Seriously, if you doubt me, say his name out loud. It is awesome.

Basically Montalban investigates the murder of a pregnant prostitute in Boston after her skeleton is found on a beach off Cape Cod. To do this, he enlists the help of Harvard's medical school to perform forensic investigations and runs across the dead hooker's nightmare of a landlady, the drunk man whose the hooker picked up in a bar and then stole his car, and the rich man who got her knocked up. It's fairly straightforward, but Montalban still gets his man in the film, even though he suspects someone entirely different for most of the movie.

Oh, and Harvard University. Montalban scrawls the name at the end with a smile. Boy, those Harvard guys sure were swell, eh? Why, everybody should go to Harvard.

I've wanted to say that to Sarah Silverman so many times.
My wife, Portman, Ricci, Silverman. Good Lord am I attracted to these women.

And I could definitely see Silverman having long and weird arm hair, a weird mole or few, and coarse peach fuzz around her face... don't care. Find her to be so extremely sexy to a level that would never be considered marketable as a kardashian. She doesn't have a gimmick. She doesn't not give a fuck for attention, she simply doesn't give a fuck.

And rarely do you hear a guy start a sentence with "She's got a great set of..." that ends with "eyes". But Silverman has an incredible set of eyes.

That's because it's an awkward sentence. One does not refer to a set of eyes.

Well when the world dissolves into a Mad Max, post-apocalypse disaster and only Sarah Silverman is left to populate the world, I won't fight you, you can have her.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

I do.

And "set" is a physical placement, so "a great set of tits" and a "Great set of eyes" are not awkward at all.

At the same time, I doubt many girls say to their friends "He has a nice set of balls".

I'd even go as far as to say that balls are more repulsive than buttholes.

Seriously. God. What were you thinking? Not that a uterus is gorgeous, but balls? Totally phoned that one in.

What a trip  . First 30 minutes are kind of slow but after that it really takes off. Just one of those bizarre movies that you would have never imagined by yourself. They also managed to cram in quite a few celebrity cameos(Charlie Sheen, Sean Pen, Brad Pitt, etc.) on top of the main cast.

Really great acting as well John Cusack and Cameron Diaz really pulled their characters off well and John Malkovich did an amazing job.
I noticed the DVD is in your sales thread. No repeat viewing later on? If you end up selling and decide on buying the movie again, get the Criterion version with cleaner video and additional footage.

SNL Collection Best Of Ferrell Farley Sandler Murphy Belushi - $5.00 BookOff
NBC put out "Best Of" DVD of select comedians from Saturday Night Live. Turns out most of the skits are the bottom of the barrel with only one or two standouts.

DO NOT BUY BEST OF SERIES UNLESS YOU CAN GET IT ON THE CHEAP!
NBC really did not preserve the comic genius of each comedian by only offering one or two funny episodes and the rest boring filler material. This made worse by the same material repeated on the different "best of" DVDs. Even when the DVDs were rereleased with a few extra episodes, many of the best funniest episodes were not included. Except for maybe one big guy (no not Belushi) which is listed further down.

Okay for only five bucks there are a few very funny episodes including this guy:

Not Belushi's best Samurai episode, but each of the DVDs also offer insight with extra footage. The Samurai character was inspired by Belushi watching Kurosawa movies and mimicking at home; his wife suggested taking it to the SNL studio.

Besides the very few funny episodes and the insight special features I almost was ready to sell the movie back to BookOff for a buck so it would have been a four dollar rental. I popped in the last disc which was the Best of Chris Farley and wow! Watch The Motivational Speaker somehow (google YouTube) episode with Phil Hartman. This first premier on the SNL take is the best and THE one to watch, so spontaneous and funny and with the other actors on stage trying to hide their laughs even more hilarious! This one single episode alone is worth keeping the set! Farley repeated the character on the Conan Obrien show which is also on the same DVD under the Extras section.
David Spade wrote:The character is, as Farley explains, 35 years old, divorced, and "living in a van down by the river." The line has lived on, even though Farley died in 1997 at the age of 33. David Spade, who is lectured by Farley in the skit, cannot keep it together. The former cast member recalled that Farley surprised him by hitching and twisting his belt during the sketch. "He saved that for the live performance, and so none of us had ever seen it. He knew that would break me."

I really would like all of Belushi Samurai or Will Ferrrell Jeopardy episodes on one or two DVDs. Sadly having to create my own DVDR might be the only option. :?

SNL Complete Second Season - $15.00 BookOff
The series are averaging twelve bucks before shipping at Amazon. Okay this is sooo much better then the "best of" series above, no scene cuts and ALL the episodes (reported except for the commercial parodies) in this collection. 22 seasons at 90 minutes apiece, plenty of memories to rediscover! I really hope the Joe Cocker concert in this set has Belushi doing the duet cameo. I remember it was so funny and the song they sang came out sounding great between the laughter. Hope to see many more Samurai routines including Samurai Tailor and of course the original cast Weekend updates.

A nice box set with a nice something extra many home video today are lacking. A beautiful multi-page book!

YES!
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv ... story.html

Just three episodes into "Saturday Night Live," Belushi got a chance to do his Cocker impression for the nation. He was introduced by host Rob Reiner without telling anyone who he was supposed to be, but the joke was immediate. Singing Cocker's hit Beatles cover "With a Little Help From My Friends," Belushi ended up falling off the stage and pouring water over himself.

It was so popular that in "SNL's" second season, Belushi actually got to perform alongside Cocker himself when the singer was the musical guest on the October 2, 1976, show. The pair appeared on stage, dressed identically, singing "Feelin' Alright."

Apparently, Cocker himself was OK with the spastic impression. Years later, he told the Broward-Palm Beach New Times, "I always found it quite amusing. But you have to understand I was a bit of a wreck at the time he was doing all that stuff... I thought vocally, he did quite a clever job with it."
I reviewed (with pictures) some Saturday Night Live DVDs at the bottom of the previous page.
